I know this is the first week of being "Open", but I was less than impressed. I had been watching the old restaurant being transformed from the minute the sign for it went up. So yesterday when contemplating our dinner options for our usual Friday Night Dinner out, I practically begged my hubby to take me there!! He wasn't sure about it, but said he'd take me and give it a try. Looks ok from the outside, inside was extremely reminiscent of the other restaurants before it and had no Great Seafood Restaurant vibe to it at all!! First disappointment. But hey, it doesn't have to if the food speaks for itself, right? So, after being seated the nice young waiter came to our table to take our drink orders, I got a water. Not because I like it per se, but because there are no drinks even mentioned on the menu and no choices were offered by the waiter. We perused the menu. It had a ton of choices and I looked at it like a kid in a candy store! I opted for the 1/2 dozen of steamed oysters with butter after hearing my husband tell me stories about how awesome they were at a restaurant in Florida he once worked at. Next, o ordered the DAILY SPECIAL wirh mild Tango Tango sauce. My hubby, who is quite the pessimist about inland seafood restaurants ordered the fried catfish and onion rings with a side of coleslaw. All of his favorite things! The oysters were brought out to the table and we looked at them and then each other. They don't look very steamed we agreed. But wanting to have hope looks were deceiving, we each picked one up and grabbed out small forks to try try them. They were still connected to the shell they were served in. Dipped in butter we popped them into our mouths. Not only did they taste like they were just pulled out of a dumpster, they had she'll pieces in them from being shucked. Gross. That was the end of those... wasn't eating another. Our meals came, and it looked quite impressive! I opened my boil bag, donned my provided BIB and set up work. First the lobster tail... hard to remove from the shell and tasted fishy, despite the sauce it dripped with. I shared some with hubby thinking maybe I wasn't crazy, and he agreed...it was the FISHIEST lobster we had ever eaten. Ok, let's try the shrimp. I ordered the 1/2 pound headless shrimp in mine, I didn't want to stare at what I was eating. The shrimp were quite large and easy to peel. They seemed cooked enough, but there was still that hint of fishyness. Hmmm...ok, crab legs next. Large cluster of snow crab legs. Looks good. I dig into cracking! Hard to crack open due to the shells being too soft to crack. Once I finished struggling to open them, trying to get any meat out if them was a struggle. It clung on for dear life inside its shell! I wrestled with the claw for all the same reasons, but did manage to pull out the only nice chunk from the entire crab leg struggle. It also came with two potatoes, 2 hard boiled eggs and a small hunk of corn on the cob. I left the potatoes and corn...not a fan, and took a small bite to just say I tried the eggs. Strange addition to a "boil" and could have been omitted in my opinion. Wondering if they had a hand in the off flavor of my seafood. My husband said the fried catfish was ok, but had better catfish from Cracker Barrell. The onion rings were small, and looked like something that came in a bag from Aldis. No onion, all breading, and no flavor. Coleslaw, his favorite side dish with fish... he dove in and immediately wanted to spit it out. He said try this, so being curious as to why he of all people balked at it, gave it a try. I immediately knew why... the so called coleslaw sauce had no flavor, and the cabbage tasted like it was stored with old moldy food somewhere. The waiter, although polite visited our table only 2 times after serving our meal and had to be called to the table by my husband to ask for the check after about 15 minutes of finishing what we could...
Read moreWe have visted this place twice. First time we really had no compliants, food was good. Second time we ordered the same thing as the first time. The service was horrible but the food tastes good. The waitress brought over a bill, we gave her a credit card to pay. When she brought our slip and card back it was higher than the first bill. When asked why the bill was higher she lied and said that was the bill that she gave us, but it wasn’t. The “ manager” kept laughing and saying “ I don’t under stand sir, let’s add it up”. We found the receipt in the trash can that she originally gave us. I would just make sure to check your bill.
In response to your comment. A second bill was NOT given, our card was just charged with no explanation. When asked why it was different, we were told that was the bill that was given to us originally - which it was not. Your employee threw it away and charged our card a different amount. If something was forgotten, she should have came over explained it and then charged the card. Not just take it upon her self to charge the card with out the customer knowing why . Also other customers who were sitting around us, chimmed in and agreed- you were wrong. We...
Read moreThis was our first time eating at this establishment. The service was ok. Our server was hard to understand and we had questions about the menu but honestly felt awkward asking him. So we winged it, guess you could say. Would have been better if we had the one woman server who knew her stuff and explained things to her tables. The food was good, nothing that stood out that I have to tell everyone “YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!” We ordered the hush puppies, and enjoyed them. We ordered the Tango Special (shared of course) when our server put it in front of us we were like….”do we dump it out? Or do we just pick out of the bag?” The restaurant was not busy, and the music was an odd choice to say the least. Wish the young man server asked if we wanted dessert (maybe he did and we didn’t understand). Wanted to try the key lime pie. Oh well right?! Glad to at least say we tried it, but in all honesty we probably...
