I was hired at Rachels Kitchen by Chris (the owner) a former car thief/robber/burglar (did 6 of his sentence in prison, only a few years back. Chris was known to only hire woman, and at some point someone pointed that out to him so to boost his "image" he hired me. This was the lowest paying job I had ever had but the customers that came in were so friendly that I really didnt mind the constant negativity I received from chris..I did mind but I needed a job and I was given lots of hours so I zipped uo my mouth and worked really hard. The back of the house loved me. I literally was running around that place. Pouring sweat I was working so hard. I made sure every customer was happy. From the beginning other empkoyees were making mistakes and chria would immediately come and blame me in front of everyone. Now I truly believe when u do somethibg wrong admit your wrong and I proved that to chris later (but chris does not listen, tunes you out, and he continued to drill me over and over even days later about previous mistakes others did. There is a camera every inch of that place and he refuses to check the cameras and just blamed me. THIS IS THE WORST PART chris s mouth is still in prison. The things he says about customers. .do not complain that your order was cold or wrong, he will cuss and say the nastiest things about you to his employees! Heres an instamce about what he said about co workers not jusy guests. Theres too many to list and I swear on my family everything I said is true! !! He was telling me how stupid and dumb and slow beth was and the words he used would get this review thrown out if I were to say them. My fellow employees knew chris well working with him for 3 years and they would even admit that they never once received a compliment from chris. The food is good but do not return it chris will be irritated and thinks its hillarious to rub your bread with his dirty hands and act like he is licking ur sandwich an inch from his face. His daddy should of never helped him buy this business. He doesnt deserve it. I came in early everyday never ever late.worked way hard. Custoners loved me. Very little mistakes and I was fired because I called in sick first thing in the morning and even got a doctors note stating I had a tooth infection (advanced stage one) whivh was giving me a bad fever and pain...everyone knows tooyh infections are extremely dangerous and can kill u because they go righy to your heart . I was prescribed 2 diff antibiotics and gave chris all the proof..which he forced me to give him that day and kept blowing up my phone your not here yet u havent sent a fax qith proof over..I did only an hour or so later and he told me I was basicallu faking it and his other employee that came in for me was actually sick and he wanted her to rest more. He is so low. Oh and he had me fibish out the whole next day before...
Read moreWhat a dumpster fire. Before the food even arrived, I was at 3 stars because of the overwhelming smell of Pine-Sol/cleaning solution. It was almost unbearable. My wife ordered first. She clearly, and multiple times, stated she wanted non-runny, FIRM eggs on her Huevos Rancheros. I ordered avocado toast and a side of pancakes, and my son got the breakfast burrito with potatoes (home fries). The food was cold (can't say it was even lukewarm). They screwed up the order, putting the runny eggs on my wife's Huevos Rancheros and gave me the hard eggs on my avocado toast (I was looking forward to over-easy eggs on my avo-toast). We didn't complain because there was just too much wrong with the order, we'd literally have to ask for a full refund and walk out. My wife ordered a lemon tart pastry. She didn't eat it, saying it smelled "eggy". I love lemon tart, and I told her I'd gladly eat it after my meal (I was still trying to be positive at this point). After my meal, I went for the lemon tart and literally spit it out. It was DISGUSTING. Tasted and smelled like eggs, like a very very strong egg odor and foul taste, couldn't pay someone to eat it. My son's breakfast burrito had the hardest, most unripe avocados, that I literally couldn't cut the avocado with my fork on my plate, and the food was just cold. His potatoes/home fries were not only cold, but they were stale. My son literally loves fried potatoes/French fries. It's pretty hard to screw up fried potatoes, but here we are. They were stale, like when you order fast food and the fries are stale? Yeah, like that. The syrup for the pancakes is some weird corn syrup concoction. It leaves behind long spidery strands of syrup which are very unnatural. It's definitely not maple syrup, and it's definitely some lab made slop. And guess what? $65 ($58 + $7 tip) for this trash. Literally trash, because that's where the food went, into the trash. 1 star because the coffee was good and I enjoyed the avo-toast after swapping eggs with my wife. She's feeling nauseous because of the lackluster food. How is this place in...
Read moreI like this place, but I'm frequently disappointed with it too, for various reasons. Mostly, it's irritating that everything is low fat focused, and no red meat options. Chicken is nutritionless meat, that's usually toxic. The only reason I eat meat is for the iron and omegas. Eating bird is just yuck. I would like to see them offer a steak salad. They're still in the old mindset of fat free being healthy. It just so happens that today I'm in a fat cleansing phase, so I didn't mind. Somehow, though, I ordered the same salad I've ordered 3 times, and that disappointed me 3 times. Clearly my memory is slacking. The chopped salad sounds so good, but when you actually get it, all you can taste is vinegar and broccoli. The description, avocados, cabbage, mozzarella, garbanzos, sounds great!!! But it isn't. It's literally overly vinegary broccoli. It would be much more pleasant if the cheese were a crumbled cheese, if the garbanzos and avocados werent finely chopped, if it had more cabbage, less vinegar, and it definitely needs more olive oil too. Would taste better with some grilled salmon too, if that were an option. I'll just take it home and add it to a salad or fish. I do like this place for the fact that it offers gluten free options and fresh juice, and some of the food is good. Sometimes the customer service is really bad, and sometimes it's great. It's really 50/50. Not a horrible option for breakfast or lunch. Just don't get their chopped salad unless you love raw broccoli and things that are extra vinegary. They should also offer sea salt. This place is supposed to be healthy, but they really don't know what healthy is. They're "ok".
Went back. They still only offer the unhealthy options of chicken and canned tuna. Juice is good. This time I got the arugula pear salad, and added beets to it. Didn't have enough cheese on it. They should have a better selection of salads. The beets were raw. The taste was actually good, but they needed to be cut smaller. It was a challenge to eat, and left the roof of my mouth raw. It was an off the menu...
