I’m staying at the best Western Hendersonville Inn tonight, in Hendersonville, North Carolina. After I checked in the gentleman behind the counter kindly suggested I could have dinner at the El Paso Mexican restaurant which is right there off the lobby. He assured me it was really good. Man oh man, he wasn’t kidding. I’ve spent quite a good amount of time in Central America, and I believe I do know what authentic Latin American food is. (And it’s certainly NOT Taco Bell! 🤣😝) The El Paso restaurant must be one of the gems of Hendersonville. The staff were helpful and friendly, and after being seated I was provided with complimentary nachos and two tasty dips. I was immediately impressed with the huge variety in the menu, and recognized many of my favorite Mexican and Guatemalan dishes. I ordered the TACOS DE ALAMBRE - Three soft shell tortillas filled with grilled beef steak, ham, jalapeños, bacon, pineapple and cheese, with pico de gallo. It was served promptly hot off the grill, and was absolutely 100% delicious. After washing that down with a Heineken 0.0% beer (THE best non-alcoholic beer on the planet, IMHO 😁), I figured I might as well go all in, and ordered the strawberry chimi with ice cream for dessert. That hit my sweet tooth and finished me off. As you will see on the menu photos, they have a dish for every taste, including vegan dishes. The full bar can serve your fav tequila, cuba libré or piña colada. I was told by the waitress that this is one of two El Paso restaurants here in the area, under the same owner. All I can say is that this restaurant deserves five stars in my book of authentic Mexican dining. When you see local Latin Americans eating at a Mexican restaurant in the USA, you know you can’t go wrong. If you’re passing through Hendersonville, NC and are looking for a lunch or dinner spot, give this place a try. I can practically guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Hats off to all the staff at El Paso who make it happen, salud! 🍻🇲🇽👍🏼💥👏🏼👏🏼

SNAPSHOT = details below - not bad this visit, but they have been better. Had the Carne Ranchera. Was a touch dry. Service was attentive and "Top Shelf Margarita" as drink special did not disappoint. Modelo on draft was fesh and tasty. Bean dip is good but "peculiar" - the particular flavors and texture might only find a narrow appeal. It's something of an acquired taste. That said, it arrived p romptly with good chips and very good salsa. Bean dip was evenly warmed and not dry. Carne Ranchera has been much better dish on prior visits. Won't prevent return visits. An off-night must be forgiven. Won't dock any points when rice is treated like an afterthought - mediocre rice can be found at any area restaurant. Will return to try same dish again or come when I'm in the mood for something else.

Got door dash delivery, because I was stupid tired after hiking. Ordered the specialty beef quesdilla. Delivered quickly. The flavor is good, and I even forgot to request spicy hot salsa. But there is no way this thing is worth $28 all in (and I even received free door dash). A quesdilla is typically cut into quarters...as this one was. But one quarter contained nothing except MAYBE some me cheese and it was hardly cut into quarters at all. And I think the only reason I ordered mexican (which I normally love) is to enjoy chips, salsa and a great margaritas., but delivery rots that experience. No margarita .. and chips are flavorless and worse without being able to request more salsa. I will not order from here again.

First time ever going to any El Paso restaurant. Got enchiladas. Tasted funny just a few bites in. My stomach is starting to feel a little wonky so I stop eating to try to let myself settle. Its not. I look inside and they literally gave me raw ground beef. We tell a cook. Sends a manager, who tells us, " oh well we pass inspection. It's just the seasoning.." I'm starting to feel worse. They give me a new plate free of hamburger meat but I can't even look at food at this point cause I'm starting to feel unwell. So I walk outside and my hubs goes to pay the bill and tells them he isn't going to pay for my uncooked and uneaten meal. He paid for his and our kids but won't for mine, because I mean honestly... would you? Literally, I didn't get but a few small bites in before tasting oddities. While my hubs is inside receiving a hard time from the manager, I'm outside puking in the parking lot. Super fun time 😑. It's been like two hours, I'm still nauseous and my stomach is cramping now. Not even just the uncooked food, but the way they reacted to the whole situation was just horrible all around. Could be just a "rare" mistake. They may actually be a decent restaurant I don't know, but unfortunately this was...

I sure went through a whole lot of trouble on mothers day to get us a nice dinner. I wish I would have never wasted the time coming here. I usually eat at papas and beer and never ever experienced this. They made my sons order wrong twice. So, I had to DRIVE THERE twice. When I got home the second time, my son complained that his taco was wet and still had nasties. I opened his taco a little further to see that it was the same one, AGAIN, but with more cheese to try and cover up the lettuce mixed in?? An hour old soggy "crunchy" tortilla, with lettuce chicken falling out the bottom. I called in to say, hey, this still wasn't right, and was told by the manager that he even SAW them make a new one. I saod okay then why not plain? Why STILL LETTUCE? This food was be wasted and im devistated. I paid 5.99, and the menu had him excited for a free drink too! Heads up, take out kids plates dont get drinks. You pay 2.50 extra. Seriously feel cheated, defeated, and joked. I just needed a fresh meal for my kid. I dont have any gas to try again. A chicken and cheese taco..for mothers day. Oh well. Better luck...
