Came here for the sourdough dough for the pizza and I will definitely be coming back, just as the guys behind the counter promised.
Newly opened pizza spot on the street leading to Hermosa pier, so limited street metered parking. They have limited patio outdoor seating, but you’re at the beach so might as well take your pie to go and eat it at the beach, watching and listening to the waves crash.
They have 11 different styles of pizza that cost $15-20 for 12” and $20-25 for 16”.
We ordered the margherita 16” ($20) and half classic pepp and half d-fresh 16”. (Disclaimer if they’re super busy, they can’t do half and half! So don’t get mad.) The dough was phenomenal, super crunch and chewy. The crust is like a mini baguette. I was hesitant about half d-fresh because it’s a white/bianca pie because I find them to be a little too creamy, but with the spicy sausage, garlic, and pickled Serranos it had a kick to it. The classic pepp has the pepperoni you’d find on a slice of pizza in nyc. What more can I say.
The guys behind the counter were super nice and funny. They have over 8 years of experience in pizza making, and honestly the best pizza I’ve had in...
Read moreRedwood Pie in Hermosa Beach serves up pizza that will transport you straight to New Haven, Connecticut’s oldest pizzerias. Like the legendary “Big Three” of Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, Sally's Apizza, and Modern Apizza, their pies boast a gloriously thin and crispy crust, a tangy and flavorful tomato sauce, and a selection of fresh, high-quality toppings.
The crust at Redwood Pie is a thing of beauty – perfectly charred on the edges and delightfully crunchy throughout. It provides the ideal foundation for the vibrant sauce, which is bright and slightly acidic, just as it should be. Toppings are fresh and flavorful, adding layers of complexity to each bite.
Although I haven’t recently enjoyed the “Big Three,” Redwood Pie captures the essence of that iconic New Haven style. It's a true gem in Hermosa Beach, offering a taste of East Coast pizza perfection.

Read moreHave been living in LA for 15 years. Constantly searching for a quality East Coast pie. We used to hit Grimaldis on Rosecrans and do think Slice & Pint is a standout. However after today we really feel Redwood may be the best we've ever had. Light airy charred crust with perfect sauce to cheese ratio and they didn't skimp on pepperoni as each bite had ample. Crispy, Cup and charred as well. We will be regulars and happy to have this down the street from us. Update, week two, same great pie.. consistent! Had a smaller 12 in and just as crispy crust and delicious as the first. Terrible people with bad intentions will get on here within 1 week of opening and try to ruin someone's livelihood with a bad review. To the guy who left 2 stars, enjoy your Dominos and Papa John's my guy. You clearly wouldn't understand the art and love that goes into making an amazing handmade original...
