I went in on this past Sunday (August 4th) in the early afternoon... after wondering the streets looking for parking. Helpful hint: they have limited parking in the rear. I didn't know this before I arrived so I parked on the street down by the Post Office.
Kelly was my server I sat at the Bar and watched the Olympics. I had the Chilaquiles but that was only because I had the Eggs Benedict the day before at another restaurant. Chilaquiles had a great spicy flavor (not to much but enough) I asked for my eggs over easy and they came as I wished for. I had a side of the deep fried grits, it is the vessel the Eggs Benedict is served on, they didn't have a lot of flavor and I couldn't taste the cheese in them so I dropped it into my Chilaquiles bowl LMAO!!
The Guava mimosa was refreshing. Kelly cared for me nicely as I sat at the bar by myself I watched as she made small talk with me and took care of other guests needs and kept on top of the servers orders.
Atmosphere in here is so nice and relaxing I would definitely recommend a return... it was a overcast 73 degree day - which after coming from the IE (107 + degrees) it was...
Read moreI travel from the East coast frequently and have dined in all (3) Rockefellers. Hermosa is my fav. Last trip I strolled in @ 7:30 on a brisk Jan Tuesday night and ordered the Pazole Verde Chicken Soup. It came out piping hot with the presentation of fresh sliced limes, radishes and chopped onions accompanied by some tortillas chips. The aroma of cilantro and lime was just the preface of what was to come. Flavors of fresh verde from chiles and a rich broth full of large white meat chicken chunks made me feel like I was in an authentic Mexican kitchen enjoying home cooking. If you close your eyes and picture terracotta pottery, tiled worn floors and a grandmother singing Mexican folk songs, this delicious homemade masterpiece will do the rest to get you there.
Everything on this menu is very good. However, this Pazole Verde is a stand out that separates dining experiences as much as Taylor and Stefan make you feel at...
Read moreThe server was amazing. Attentive and was very understanding.
The food however was less than mediocre. I initially ordered the chilaquilles . They arrived with the over was eggs cooked where the yolk was way overcooked. While I waited for the eggs to be re done I had the chips on the plate. I say chips because that's pretty mich all it was. The little bit of cheese and tiny bit of pork chorizo must have been soaked up by the chips. However it didn't taste like it. Easily the worst plate of chilaquilles I've ever had
I sent that plate back and orders pork belly Benedict. Sounds good right? It does however it wasn't. The pork was overcooked and didn't have flavor. The "Benedict " was a fried potatoes pasty with eggs and hollandaise. Just uninspiring and poorly executed pork belly which should be the Star of the show.
Can't imagine how this place survives but I won't...
