Silvio's BBQ — Restaurant in Hermosa Beach

I seem to be drawn to places with bad service lately. Me, my wife and our two friends came here for some lunch at a time when the place was basically empty. We got to order fairly quickly and were served water right away. Then came the bad stuff. The place started crowding up about 15 minutes after the waitress took our orders, and we had to wait for 40 minutes, and ask about it twice, before we got our food. They also served two parties that were seated after us, before serving us. This was when we asked the first time, and got the answer "It's coming right up". 10 minutes later we still hadn't gotten our food, so we asked again, and then the guy went straight to the kitchen and got our plates. Weird thing is, our fries were all lukewarm, which to me makes it seem like they were already ready when we asked the first time.

Forward to the eats: Food was OK. We were absolutely starving so we finished most of it, and it was definitely not bad. I had some sort of chicken sandwich; the bun was fresh and juicy, so was the chicken.

Forward to paying: We had to ask for the check twice. We waited for about 10 minutes before asking a second time, but it seems that the guy we asked the first time forgot about it immediately because when we asked another waiter she had the check in her apron. We then had to wait for another 10 minutes before she picked it from the table, which I guess was fine since they were after all pretty busy by then.

All in all not a very good experience, unless you're in the mood...

I’ve never had service so badly as i did at this location. Our waiter ignored us multiple times and kept walking past us giving the bare minimum of service but was so very attentive to all of the other guest, in fact her co worker even pointed that out and made her aware that she walked right past us needing service. Aside from her coworker having to remind her to do her job the only employee at this place that actually cared to service us was the bus boy. I had no plans whatso ever in coming back here because along with the horrible service, the the pretzel was dry it felt like i was eating a Popeyes biscuits. now don’t get me wrong the pretzel wasn’t nasty they just needed to make it a little softer with some type of pretzel salt(available on the side at the least), that pretzel was so plain like....no and that cheese sauce no no NOPE it wasn’t even a sauce it was like pudding the texture was just very weird. I feel like if they Replace it with an apple butter type of spread and serve it warm then it would fire 😋 aside from that suggestion, and also having either a chipotle sauce or avocado cream sauce for the rice bowls or other sauce options, the food was good. Thanks to the bus boy who actually tried to give decent service i will possibly return to this place but only ordering my food to go just to avoid the horrible service 😊 oh and the cocktails are delicious too, I’m not sure how the one i had was spelled but it started with a C and i had the tropical flavor, strong & fruity...

My husband and I went to Silvio's for dinner on Thursday evening, Nov. 3. The hostess and the server were very nice. I'm not sure what happened to their service and food & beverage quality standards but it was terrible on this particular evening. I ordered a glass of cabernet and when I took a sip out of the glass, it had a long strand of hair in it. At first, I thought it was my hair but it was blonde and I'm a brunette. The server was extremely sorry and offered to take the charge off of our check. We then found black beans, along with some other food particles floating in our glass of water. We requested for another glass and this time it was hair free. For dinner I ordered the veggie bowls, the description of this selection said: rice, beans and salad with a choice of meat or grilled veggies. I got the veggies, poor quality of rice, salad, NO beans. I'm terribly disappointed with their lack of care and attention towards the quality of food and beverage. The overall cleanliness of their restaurant and serving dishes need to live up health code standards. I'm sure I will never go to Silvio's again or recommend...
