I am a Hermosa Beach native, Arizona transplant. My husband is an Arizona native, Florida transplant. When deciding where to get married, when knew it had to be by the water. We ultimately chose Hermosa Beach as our wedding destination because of the beauty and charm my hometown offers. John and I envisioned a small wedding on the beach, surrounded by family and friends. We set the date for 11.25.17, and began planning. Since my family is local, we typically stay with them. For the weekend of our wedding, however, we were hoping to have some space to ourselves. As we were fretting over what we could afford for accommodations, my mom asked what we wanted for a wedding gift. Thinking she would never go for it, we told her we wanted to stay at the Beach House for the weekend of our wedding. We were blown away and so excited when we received the confirmation for our room the next day! When I told my mom I wanted to stay at the Beach House for our wedding, I had no idea what a blessing this request would come to be… Remember when I said we wanted a small wedding on the beach? Well, our guest list ended up being around 60, and Hermosa Beach does not [officially] allow “events” on the beach. GULP. So I’ll start this review with our wedding itself: I didn’t want a chance encounter with the police on our wedding day, so I started looking around for a casual, outdoor space on the beach to get married. I looked from Venice to Long Beach, and was finding nothing in our price range. As we had planned on getting married on the beach for free, anything beyond this was pushing our budget. I was starting to get panicked, and was desperate for an option that would work. I knew that the Beach House wasn’t a space for weddings, but figured I would ask if they had any space- what’s the worst they could say, no? Lucky us- they said yes! Vanessa and Jessica helped me bring the wedding of our dreams to reality. The offered us the outdoor patio space (used for morning breakfast) for our wedding. It was the perfect place for our relaxed, outdoor wedding. Stunning views, and even better than being on the beach itself! They offered me assistance on the day-of from their fabulous staff, a day-of coordinator, and options for drinks/snacks after the ceremony. They even had indoor meeting space ready to go, in case there was inclement weather! Our wedding went off without a hitch, and was the most beautiful, wonderful, and amazing day of our life. We are so grateful for Vanessa, Jessica, and the rest of the team at Beach House for making this day amazing. Every single guest raved about how amazing our wedding was, and any of our guests who stayed at the Beach House also raved about their experience there. So onto the hotel review: After getting our room gifted to us from my wonderful mother, we contacted Vanessa at the Beach House about a courtesy rate for a small block of rooms for our wedding. They graciously offered us a courtesy discount, which we passed along to our guests. Vanessa and Jessica worked with us- and our guests- to answer any questions about the hotel, and ensure everyone had what they wanted. All of my guests were greeted warmly upon arrival, and had a lovely stay over the weekend. Every room was perfect, every moment was memorable, and our friends and family that stayed at the Beach House could not have been happier! We would highly recommend the Beach House for your stay in the South Bay. And even though it’s a little more money, we especially recommend a third floor Ocean Front room. TOTALLY worth every penny! The rooms are stunning, complete with spacious bathrooms, big Jacuzzi bathtubs, a cozy fireplace, modern amenities, a great little patio, and one of the best hotel beds I have ever stayed in! Thank you again to the Beach House, Jessica, Vanessa, and the rest of the amazing staff for making our wedding- and our wedding weekend- everything we could have dreamed of and more! We can’t wait...
Read moreLocation: perfect. 3 steps from the sand. Food, shops, bike rentals, everything within a few feet. |Room: the JACUZZI was the star of the show. Unlimited hot water. 10/10. Fireplace I kept on pretty much the whole time and brought such a nice vibe. |My daughter took the master, which was very comfortable and I took the pull out couch which was fine since it was next to the fireplace and ocean waves. |The patio.. I loved.. but it is very close to the people beside you, which I did see.. but for 2 nights, we had a group of people who were soo loud but when they left, it was perfect |Front desk was super nice and accommodating, as was valet. ||My only complaint.. is housekeeping. It said they come daily to change linens. I arrived Saturday. By Sunday night, I arrived back at night and they never came. I was not expecting that. I called down and the guy asked if I had the sign hanging to not come, I said no. He apologized and said he’d let them know. Monday comes.. I get a light knock at 415pm and go to run to the door before she had already opened it ( my daughter was showering ) .. I said can you come back? She said 430 I said okay, so got my daughter out of shower and we left the room to sit at a coffee shop to wait for an hour. ( 2nd time we left the room that day thinking they would clean bc I had the please refresh sign out ) Come back and nothing. I call down and they said they’re gone for the day, so I don’t know if that was a miscommunication or what.. but from Saturday to Tuesday, no one came to straighten up or give n fresh linens or new towels until I called the desk late Monday night to at least bring new sheets and towels to do myself. With the sand from the beach, it was actually quite annoying and I couldn’t believe I spent 2k without having 1 person in the room to change the towels. Kinda wild. But beside that, great experience.. but the housekeeping stuff really got to me.. because I’ve never spent so much on a room, but was going all out for this vacation, yet never not had housekeeping. had to call down to ask what to do with all dirty stuff and then spent all day over stressing about the sand and mess that I didn’t want to sit cleaning all day but felt I had to to enjoy the room.. plus with having to leave multiple times when we didn’t want to for no reason, it kinda put a damper on...
Read moreOne star is for the location and the second for the nice room if you get one. the gist - beware of room 119, not every room has a fireplace, rude staff. Definately not worth the $400 a night. My husband and I had one night away from the kids and I thought this place was perfect. Would have been if they didn't "upgrade" our room (we didn't ask for it) to 119 at the end of the hallway on the first floor to the right, next to the park. DO NOT accept this room. After returning from dinner we realized there was a loud whistling sound. It was the air whistling in under the door. A towel on the floor helped a little but it was LOUD. Looking around I realized there was no fireplace. I went to the front desk to ask for a different room because the sound was so annoying we really wanted a fireplace anyways. It's advertised that EVERY room has one. The front desk person said there wasn't one avaliable and they could comp us $15 and could send maintance to our room. What a romantic evening that would be waiting around for maintance. He also said we were in the only room without a fireplace. I said that was an unacceptable amount, we would rather just have our original room. He messed around on the computer and said it was already occupied. I explained how this was our one night away and we just wanted peace and quiet. He offered to talk to his manager. He came back out and said we could have our original room or take the $15. Soooo the room was avaliable? The attitude was really weird like we were inconviencing them but at $400, you bet I'm getting what I paid for. We took the original room and it was a great rest of the evening. The next morning we were SO VERY GLAD we did as room 119 is across from the continental breakfast! It was so loud in the hallway as families went in and out. There's NO WAY you'd sleep through that. Better be ready to...
