The Chicken Shack — Restaurant in Hermosa Beach

I've been eyeing this place for a while. I was starving and wanted some yummy chicken. Well, this place showed up and I went. Cool vibes on the outside. Cool vibes on the inside too.

The staff and cashier was so very nice. It was energetic in there and fun. Here is where it failed me epically. Peruvian food isn't something I know too much about, but what I got doesn't seem like something outside of LA fast food.

I got the Chicken that is over some French fries, grilled onions and tomato and smothered with some SALTY soy sauce stuff or something. With jasmine rice too. The flavors were destroyed by the saltiness. As I ate it, I realized I was eating a mix match of leftovers it feels. The chicken was basic as the fries, tomatoes and onions felt sloppy. The rice was okay.

I forced myself to finish this plate. Not because it was delicious, but because it was so darn expensive I felt jipped.

I never like reviewing restaurants something low, but dang. This had me confused why I paid !26.00! For something that not only costs 4 dollars to make and felt very sloppy put together, I think 2 stars is as good as I'm going to give this place.

NOW, do not let this review speak for all the dishes or even the quality of staff. It is a bad review because of the insane price for the value of food. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm trying to save...

Been here a few times..My boyfriend has been coming here for years..... I really wish I could give it a 0 star but by far the worst experience ever. I ordered the pesto saltado but I wasn’t feeling it, it wasn’t good like before. My boyfriend started eating it when this piece of metal got stuck on the back of his tongue. Luckily he was able to get it out... I told the waitress and she contacted an older woman... not sure if she is the owner but the lady right away grabbed the napkin with the metal piece on top and put it away.... We told her what happened and she said “in the 11yrs that we have here this isn’t the first time this happens.” Like I told her... just imagine this got swallowed by my bf or anyone... for example like a child!!!! Definitely will never come back here again!!! The way she reacted, right away I knew it wasn’t the first time because she even told us it was from what they use to wash dishes.... check your food before you put it in...

I don't know what went wrong with what I ordered but I do not feel great about my experience. I ordered the shack sandwich which on the menu was labeled "(spicy)" in parenthesis but had not only no kick but lacked spices whatsoever. The sauce was bland. The bread was dry. Overall was perfectly serviceable as food and that's it.

I ordered my food with a side of steamed veggies instead of fries. The veggies were $5.49 when the fries are $1.99. Did not know the charge was that much when ordering and was not told it was nearly twice as much. Additionally, the steamed veggies had ZERO flavor. Take any bag of frozen veggies from the store (green beans, carrots, corn, etc) and throw them in a pot and that's what I received.

Overall I feel cheated with the experience I had. The reviews all look so good but the service and meal that I received was worth $10, not the nearly $25 I was charged for...
