I used to work there and first time I ate the food it gave me the runs. Still ate it though because it the what they offer to a broke mofo... Downstairs bathroom flooded next week and couldn't use it. Ended up quitting because I didn't think This was good for my mental health. Went to get my tips the day before Thanksgiving and the owner Duff told me to wait til he slowed down.he slowed down then he said he couldn't find my tips.i texted chef Ivan and he told me where it was.this guy said come next time even though he had no one at the bar.i told him I need to buy food and I needed my tips for thanksgiving. Looked at my like I was there to cause a issue. Finally they other buff owner dude came walking by and I told him if he could get it and he said no problem because he's understands I had worked for him before and was entitled to what I earned. Finally got it and he gave it to me . Place is actually cool but when someone isn't Aunthenic like that tall goofy mofo named Duff.then that's when you outta feel bad for the guy because he didn't have something to look forward to on the holidays except being in a bar which probably will be his downfall.his own stake in the bar. Anyway , Food is good when it comes to certain plates and the have some good combos.huge t.v's. Yes yes.....but watch out for the bartender named Duff who is a partial owner.he may well be not giving you a righteous pour when it comes to your drink as he really didn't want to give me tips I earned from 3 weeks ago. Awkward awkward awkward. ...because I wanted to go back and play pool and bring all my Co workers and friends. But this guy literally had me sitting at the bar starring at him doing nothing... O and when I called his name to say if he could get the tips for me.... Just ignored me....Deep down he is most like a white supremacists if you ask me. #1 ignored me.didnt wanna give me my money to buy groceries for my family as I told him that's the reason I needed my tips that day.say b4 thanksgiving. I've spent a lot of my time here but not exactly from my will. I use to audit this place for alcohol (ever seen the show Bar Rescue?) and I've found nothing wrong with their cleanliness. Their organization of the place is the best they can do with the limited space they have. The only thing I really liked about the bar was when it was 8am and the place was empty. It's when you're stopping by at night and your shoulder to shoulder with some narcissistic jerk who's unsafely tossing a dark across the room hoping to hit a board then asking you, "who are you bro? Did you grow up here??" Yeah I did, my entire life in fact. Then you discover no one there is from the beach area and you're just moving through a sweaty cesspool of valley beach wannabes. Then once you manage your way outside you catch some drunkard relieving himself on the side of the building while his buddy does look out. No staff to be seen. Gotta love Hermosa. Apart from the scene this bar likes to attract, the only reason I ever dare to go there is because the bar staff are great at quickly responding to calls. If you want a beer, they've got you. Consistent with delicious food, drinks and service! And whenever I ask for extra this, extra that or request any specific change to the menu description, the wait staff/bartenders graciously (and correctly) amend the order. Food is always delivered hot with silverware and a smile. Enjoying the Philly cheesesteak with lots of items included, like sweet peppers mushrooms onions…, I tried the spicy slaw and loved it. Next time I’m going to ask for double the slaw or get some extra to go, as it was uniquely delicious with a zest. There’s obviously positive leadership by the owners, and I have noticed improvements since Duff became GM. Personally working in an essential business, I thought it was extra special that both the GM and bartender had received both vaccinations. and all staff were wearing masks; I felt safe. With the (also consistent) friendliness, positivity and professionalism of Troy, I look forward to returning and receiving that same A+ service and food quality.
