Let me preface this as saying 80% of the time WE LOVE THEIR FOOD. tonight was the fourth occurrence we've encountered ordering / quality issues. Placed order at 5:45. Pickup time was 6:45. Arrived at 6:42. Inquired about pickup order. Was interrogated about how order was placed as they didn't have our order on record, even though our card was charged and we had a confirmation number. Someone from the back came out after the cashier had inquired with us for about 5 minutes, he told us their "online orders weren't coming through". Again fourth occurrence of this happening. He was kind, apologetic, and asked us to produce our online confirmation and order to get it started. We agreed to wait while he assured us he'd put our order to the front. After 35 additional minutes (not bad), now 1:30 duration into this experience, he runs out of the back with two bags (as the bottleneck in the waiting room is building) We thank him, and head out to the car. I'm the car I have a feeling we need to check our order. $90 worth of food and we're missing two main dish items. We then head back in, alert the cashier again and the gentleman that tried to help came back up. I told him our order was short, and he asks me again to produce the order. We go item by item and I have to prove to him my order is missing items. We then wait another 15 minutes for the missing items to make it out. There is clearly an issue. The people of the establishment are obviously hard working yet frantic, kind, and trying to keep up. But I am saddened to say after supporting this business for as long as we've lived here, we can't do so any further. We were not alone in frustration, but had empathy for them. I hope they work out the kinks of the issues they've been having over the past 2 years. To top it off, our family who came in from Tennessee who moved from Herriman a year ago also remarked on how "gross and bland" the food we recieved was. I'm not writing the review to be unkind, I genuinely hope the owner sees this and is able to get this establishment back on track. I sincerely hope they do, and that we can come back and once again help support this local restaurant and keep this business producing delicious food at a...
Read morePLEASE READ THIS! (FOOD POISONING). On Sunday, December 15th I ate a dish that contained chicken at Guras Spice House. The next day I had a fever and nausea followed by diarrhea. These symptoms became more severe over the next few days along side with stomach pain. The severity of my sickness escalated to the point where all types of food nauseated me, even water caused nausea. On Friday, December 20th I FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT AND POSSIBLY DIE. I ended up having to be taken to the hospital that day, I was becoming dehydrated from the food poisoning and was struggling to keep nourishment in my body. Also, I had to be put in a wheelchair when I arrived at the hospital because I was unable to walk due to an anxiety attack brought on by being so sick and feeling like I was going to die. I had not recovered until Tuesday, December 24th. This experience has altered the way I eat, its also caused me to completely lose my trust in Guras Spice House and public establishments in general. I would hate to see this happen to anyone else or their children. What if this had happened to a child or elderly person? I'm a young and healthy adult with a strong immune system, who knows what could've happened to a child or senior citizen. Don't go to this place. I hope someone can be held accountable for this so it doesn't...
Read moreWho would have known that Herriman has been hiding one of my favorite Indian menus that I have tasted outside of India. This restaurant is inauspicious from the outside, sitting in a strip along with the likes of Little Caesar's and Pan Asia, but Guras Spice House is nothing like the rest. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, and they have done a great job of making it elegant but not over the top. I do wish that the televisions were not there, they seem to distract from the atmosphere more than anything.
The naan is fantastic, and they serve good sized portions to last through the entree. The saag paneer was just how I like it, and they also have chicken momos on the menu as well. I'm sure I will be back here plenty of times to give updates on some of my favorite dishes.
I believe that this restaurant is relatively new, but it is clear that the cooks are not new to their craft. The single waiter that we had was obviously new, as he asked me "is lassi a drink?" That made me chuckle, but he did a good job despite being flustered as the only waiter working and being new to the job. I hope that this restaurant does continue to grow because it is one of the best options in the South Valley. I'm lucky to live nearby, but Guras is definitely worth going out of your way to...
