Taqueria Chunga’s — Restaurant in Herriman

Chunga's has awesome tacos! I was greeted by a friendly staff member and I let her know it was my first time at the restaurant. She made some recommendations and I settled on Al Pastor, Steak and Spicy Pork corn tacos. When I was ready to pay, she was so kind and offered me a drink, which I thought was a very kind gesture and not expected at all!

I got my food within about 4 minutes of sitting down and was surprised to see that my meal came with chips and salsa! I received a mild salsa and a chipotle ranch sauce.

I asked one of the team members for some spicy habanero salsa but unfortunately they were out. I asked if they had any other spicy salsa but they did not. They did have a chili arbol salsa that was really good but wasn't very spicy. Not a deal breaker but I definitely like authentic spicy salsa's with tacos.

The meat was tender on all three items and the steak was salty and had awesome flavor. It's always the worst when you get unflavored carne asada!

The tacos come with some salsa on them already which, I may ask to have removed the next time I order. I'm very big into salsa and like to add my own into my tacos!

The salsa's were great, but I feel like they were a little Americanized. I love tacos because of the Mexican culture behind them and I think keeping salsa's traditional and SPICY is important!

Overall Taqueria Chunga's was amazing and I can't wait to go back! I am on day 22 of "Taco's everyday for a month" and I'm sure I will fit Chunga's into the coming days again, very soon!

I was also told that the enchiladas were a Verde style and that they were gluten free, which is awesome!

Update 3/31: came back today for lunch, and JUST AS AMAZING. This time I got the tacos combo of Al Pastor & Grilled Steak. SO. YUMMY. They added the perfect amount of cilantro and onion to the top, and the limes were so juicy! The Al pastor shines with its pineapple infused flavor. We got our food within 5 minutes of sitting down, and it was HOT! I hate cold food, so 11/10 for chungas for this! The restaurant is still just as spotless, which is so appreciated! The incredible workers here are so great at their jobs, we love Chungas!!!! It did start to get busy while we were eating, AS IT SHOULD! Can’t wait to come back again!

I have never seen a restaurant so spotless. Each table is meticulously clean, the windows not a speck, the floors no garbage. I am so impressed by the cleanliness of this restaurant!

The workers are some of the most kind people. I love that I could try a meat before purchasing to ensure I actually liked it!

The food we decided to purchase was so incredible. We got the enchiladas (Al pastor and Grilled Steak) and it was the perfect amount of saucy, flavorful and crispy all at the same time. The jalapeño ranch sauce is so good, I’d like to take an entire bottle home please!!! The tres leches was a red velvet! The frosting was nice and creamy, and the cake was very moist! Definitely a different take of tres leches but not in a bad way!

Today's mission was to find delicious Mexican food. A quick search of "restaurants near me" led to Taqueria Chungas, boasting a ridiculous number of five-star reviews. Naturally, my friends and I had to see what the hype was about.

The atmosphere was buzzing when we walked in – in a good way! We were immediately greeted by Daniella, and her energy was infectious! She was super enthusiastic and genuinely wanted to help us find the perfect meal.

When I asked for her recommendation, she suggested the quesadilla with Al Pastor. Order it! It was phenomenal! At first I was like, a quesadilla??? But the flavors were so vibrant, and the Al Pastor meat was perfectly seasoned – I'm pretty sure my taste buds celebrated with every bite.

Daniella wasn't just a great recommender; her service throughout our meal was fantastic. She gave us some other great menu suggestions for my friends, and they were all equally impressed with their choices.

You can tell they put a lot of care into their food and the customer experience here. This place truly deserves all those five-star reviews. The food is absolutely fantastic, and you'll understand why it's so popular after your first bite. And a huge shout-out to Daniella – she's a fantastic employee who made our visit even better!

I would highly recommend Taqueria Chungas, and I'm already planning my next trip back to get another fix of that...
