I hate to leave a bad review, but want others to be aware of what you’ll find. I highly recommend getting multiple quotes. We even got multiple quotes.
We went through AFS flooring because of what they told us during the estimate. They told us oh if your subfloor is bad we will remove it and put new subfloor down. So we got a quote for the price of everything and subfloor if needed.
The first issue was on install day. They told us we needed the new subfloor, which was fine. But they laid the subfloor right over the old subfloor. They never removed the old subfloor. Even though demo subfloor was in our estimate. When my husband asked the installer he said the estimate was “misleading” in how it was worded. Red flag number 1. But we let it go. Then after install.. we quickly realized damage that was done. Small holes in walls broken outlets. Etc. We were so frustrated that these guys knocked the trim from our brand new cabinet install down and cut it? Shorter than it was, so it doesn’t line up. And then they NAILED it in with a nail gun. Which split the wood. That was so frustrating, they tried to hide it and never told us. We had the specific glue and could have saved it from cracking if they were honest and upfront.
Then comes carpet install. It was fine, but they left NONE of the extra carpet. So if we ever need a repair or anything, we don’t have any scraps.
We also let them know the stair nose trim was cut incorrectly, and ruth let us know she will see when she can get an installer out, its been over two weeks now.. Just hired our contractor to fix this.
AFS was very friendly in store, during the estimate and on the phones. They were also accommodating with our remodel schedule.
They seem to use third party installers, and they are only there to do the job and don’t value your home.
All in all we did get multiple quotes and if we knew they were just going to lay subfloor over top, we would have saved thousands and just gone with another company. So learn from my mistakes, and look at getting multiple quotes.
Edit to add after getting multiple calls and texts from the owner mid work day. I may have misunderstood during the estimate with Aaron, the way he worded it all was different than other companies. But they laid the subflooring over the "main floor" like every other company was stating they would do. Again, looking into other companies might just save you thousands.
Overall, it just all built up to be a bad experience. Our floors and carpet do look pretty good, so we don't regret getting...
Read moreI waited a few months after my experience with AFS to evaluate how my carpet is doing. I had them carpet my whole house, and my experience couldn't have been better. Aaron measured how much we would need and his measurements were much more specific than others who came to measure, which resulted in his estimate being much lower from a square yards standpoint. And it turned out to be exactly enough. That was a huge money saver. He also went to great lengths to find carpet that met our specific requirements and the price per square yard was competitive. They also made sure to get all our transitions perfect. And the installation was on time and impeccable and has stayed that way, which was impressive because this was very heavy difficult-to-work-with carpet. Overall, this is a very rare case where I would feel confident going through AFS for any of my flooring needs without even having to shop...
Read moreGreat experience start to finish! Very simple to pick what carpet I wanted. The measuring of my house went so quickly, and they came when I had time instead of me having to take my time off for them. The carpet installation went better than I could have imagined. The crew came early, was efficient, and finished my entire upstairs (and stairs) in about 4 hours (and they cleaned and vacuumed too). There was very little carpet left over, and almost no pad. It was great to see almost no waste. The best part is that I had a walk through check to make sure I liked it a few days after, and a phone call 2 weeks after that to make sure I still wasn’t having any issues with my floor (and still liked it). What service! I would recommend...
