Andy's Frozen Custard — Restaurant in High Point

Weather Report: A rainy 53 degree Saturday. Our mood was iffy with a very good chance of snippy. Do you know what turned the day around? A trip to Andy’s Frozen Custard! This is a drive thru or window pickup establishment, but they do have outside seating. Hubs got the chocolate custard in a waffle cone. I got the Snow Monster Concrete. It was vanilla custard with sliced strawberries and melted chocolate chips. Wait. What? Melted chocolate chips? Isn’t that just chocolate syrup? No sir/ma’am it isn’t! They melt the semisweet chips but when they add that to the frozen custard, it refreezes into what I can only describe as chocolate flakes. Chocolate FLAKES! It was delicious! I ate and enjoyed every bite. My pictures don’t do the flavor justice but I tried. We used the drive thru and then sat in the parking lot to eat. They were really busy and the sign said they make custard every hour. I don’t think they are bragging, I think that’s out of necessity. Do yourself a favor and try them out. Rain or shine, you...

I’ve always liked their custard, but I was there recently and was disgusted by their standards of cleanliness. A girl was hanging out with her dog, talking to the kids who work there one day when the dog jumped up and put his paws on the counter. I went to the side and asked the young fellow who works there to clean the counter but he said it didn’t matter since they don’t put food on the counter. When the girl and her dog left, my wife asked another girl to clean the counter and she kind of smiled and nodded, but never did, another customer arrived, and that was that. My wife contacted customer service and they said they’d pass it along to the franchise owner, but we never heard anything back. I can only assume that means the franchise owner is fine with these standards of cleanliness, and that means I cannot eat there again,...

So I went for the first time and ordered the boot daddy concrete. The lady at counter offered me to sign up for the rewards at that time and said that I earned seven points for this purchase. Also, I earned a free treat for signing up and I can avail it next time. When I went there next time to avail my free treat, the new lady at the drive thru counter said that this would be my first purchase, the previous staff signed me up after the purchase and so that purchase doesn’t count. This is ridiculous. I didn’t want to argue for a free treat because it’s embarrassing. But it’s clearly their mistake, and they should have given it to me anyway without any argument.
