Best sushi place I've eaten at by far, for one specific reason in particular no other sushi place I've ever eaten at gets right, which I'll explain in a minute. First, I'll cover the basics. Amazing service, our server/waitress went above and beyond to make sure the experience was positive, and still didn't alter the atmosphere to be too uptight or hectic. It was truly a nice, casual, kinda comfy dining experience. You don't really get that in most fine dining places. When I say fine dining, I'm talking quality food and drink, presentation was impeccable and the taste was for sure some of the best I've had. The one thing in particular though that no other place I have been to so far has gotten right, is the poke bowl. Don't get me wrong, I've had a good poke bowl before, but never a great one. The poke bowl here was ACTUALLY COLD! I can not express how much I appreciate that, because every other place it's half of the ingredients are kept cool and the other half (specifically the fish and avocado) are tepid, room temperature for some reason, and that's just not great. When I got my poke bowl, it had such a variety of ingredients and few different bowl options for a decent price, and a large portion. 100% my go to place for sushi now. Oh and their side Miso soup is $3.00, worth every cent, to die for. I will say the California roll was a little bit smaller than I expected, but thats just compared to the rest of their portions. It's probably about the same size as most other places would give. Hibachi here and the poke bowls are the only entrees I've tried and both give surprisingly large portions. Me and my wife ate here for exactly $50 after tip. We ordered poke bowl #1, x1 California roll, x1 chicken hibachi, 1 side soup (miso), a sweet tea and a coke....
Read moreI love sushi, so I decided to go get dinner here with my friends since the reviews are so good. It’s safe to say I will never be back here again, The atmosphere is not great, is not that spacious to dine in. I ordered two eel rolls and a shrimp tempura roll and I noticed that one of the cooks put food to warm up/cook in an oven. When the cook took it out, he touched the food with his fingers (no gloves) to check if it was warm enough. I guess it was not warm enough since he put it back in the oven. Then he pulled it back out and touched it again. I was disgusted, so I talked to what I believe was the owner and told him what the cook had done. I know he talked to him but not sure if any of that was used in my order (i’m hoping it wasn’t). I still decided to eat it (not sure why, I just felt embarrassed to not eat it I guess). I felt sick after eating it not because the food was bad but the idea of someone touching it made me nauseous. After all this, I still don’t think the food is bad but its not great like other reviews say. I’ve had better sushi in other restaurants in high point. I’m never...

What sets Shipp’s Sushi apart is the exceptional service. The staff are friendly, attentive, and the hibachi chef is really cute wonder if he’s single? knowledgeable about the menu. They made great suggestions and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the meal.
