I had one of the strangest and most unsettling experiences of my life at Sushi Kingdom. While the food was passable, the overall atmosphere and service left me feeling incredibly uncomfortable.
To begin with, the ambiance was terrible. The lights were overly bright, making it feel less like a relaxing dining experience and more like an interrogation room. The restaurant felt eerily similar to something out of the movie Get Out—there was a bizarre and unsettling vibe throughout our visit.
The staff's behavior was completely inappropriate. One of the waiters asked my wife if she was pregnant, which was not only uncalled for but also incredibly rude. On top of that, there was a strange man who seemed to be watching her intently while she ate, adding to the discomfort. We also had to wait for an hour before finally going up to the front to pay our check because no one came to retrieve it.
The bathroom conditions were atrocious, dirty, outdated, and frankly disgusting. It was clear that cleanliness was not a priority for the restaurant, which made me question the hygiene of the kitchen as well.
As for the menu, it featured oddly sexualized names for the sushi rolls, such as "Happy Ending 😉," "Creamy Roll," "Playboy," and "Deep Love." This was both inappropriate and off-putting, especially in the context of the overall experience. Eating sushi should never feel suggestive or make anyone uncomfortable, and yet that’s exactly how it felt here.
While the sweet chili sauce was decent and the food was okay (though far from exceptional), the entire experience was overshadowed by the poor atmosphere, strange behavior, and inappropriate themes. To make matters worse, it felt like the staff was objectifying my wife, which led to a disturbing sense of unease that is hard to shake. At its worst, the experience gave off vibes that bordered on something as serious as human trafficking, which is horrifying to even think about.
I would not recommend Sushi Kingdom to anyone. The combination of bad service, eerie ambiance, and inappropriate behavior made this one of the worst dining experiences...
Read moreWe were told it was going to be an hour wait and we ended up waiting nearly 2 hours to be seated. They kept taking parties of 2 and 3 that came in after us and sitting them at booths and told us a party of 4 with 2 small babies that we were next and they were just waiting on a booth but yet they kept giving the booths away to others. The babies became restless and my husband who just had hip replacement surgery had to stand for an extremely long time. When I told the host this she scoffed at me. Once we were finally seated we were made to move tables because they said there was a party of 5 coming and they needed that one. A party of 5 never came to that table. They seated a party of 2 there. We smooshed into a booth which was uncomfortable with the little ones. it was 8pm when we were finally seated. we were told we’d have 2 hours for the all you can eat sushi (they close at 10anyways). Our whole table marked on one paper for what we wanted and they didn’t even bring everything we marked. They waited 45min. To come back to the table and told us it was last call (at 9pm). So we didn’t really have 2 hours and we left hungry. We had ordered beer and they were out of cold ones of what we ordered. Bummer. When they brought out our second round of sushi they again didn’t bring everything we had marked. We all had upset stomachs the next day. Not sure if that was coincidence or if it was the sushi. We did not enjoy our dining experience. Bummer because we all love sushi and we were stoked...
Read moreWas not a fan of this Sushi Kingdom at all. We have previously been to one in Greenville, SC. I’m not sure if they are affiliated at all but the menu and concept were nearly identical. However, this location limited which sushi rolls you could choose from (they had a wider variety of rolls on their main menu) when doing the all you can eat. The rolls themselves were incredibly bland and low quality. I couldn’t even finish my last roll as there was visible wetness/slime separating the 3 types of fish in my roll. Then they ice cream for dessert, which the other location does as well. But this location gives you a individual cup that was in the freezer so the the ice cream is rock hard and takes minutes to thaw to eat it. After waiting until it was soft enough to work a spoon into it, I found it to be equally tasteless as the sushi. I started wondering if I had Covid because of the lack of taste in this restaurant. I have confirmed I did not and my taste buds are working just fine.
Also there was no option for steak hibachi or even an order of fried rice. When asked, the waitress told me I could pay for an order on the side. It is wild that something as simple as fried rice isn’t included in the all you can eat for $28.99. Again, if done correctly, this concept is such a great experience. But this location was just abysmal. Would...
