I've been going here for years and have always had amazing food and service. It seems that they are recently under new ownership and the experience has been horrible every time since. Most recently me and a coworker went for lunch, there was no one in the restaurant and after 5 minutes the waiter came to take our order even though we had never even gotten menus or drinks. Eventually we order and then they bring out my coworkers food, then go back to the kitchen to BEGIN MAKING my food. So even though it was just 2 of us in the restaurant together we had to eat lunch separately because the 2 dishes came out 15-20 minutes apart! It was one of the most bizarre and awkward experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. The worst part was the staff was just hanging out chatting and didn't care or notice that there are only 2 people in your restaurant sitting together and the food came out 20 minutes apart, they never even acknowledged this! My friend was completly done and we were getting up to leave when my food finally came out (Simple hibachi chicken).
When you order a Hibachi meal here they always give you a choice of Soup or Salad. I always get the soup because it is perfect on a winter day. IDK what they brought out to me but it was NOT the normal broth like soup you get in Japanese restaurant. It was this cloudy, stinky mess and It smelt so bad I couldn't even keep it at the table. (BRING YOUR OLD SOUP BACK!)
This place used to have the best Japanese food around but its not the same as it used to be. I'm never going back to this...
Read moreDisappointing every time. If you order steak, you will be asked how you would like it cooked, but your answer is irrelevant, because your steak will either be cooked medium well, or well done. I have ordered steak cooked medium on many occasions, and I have never actually recieved steak that was cooked medium. You will also want to make sure you check your order before you leave if you have a pick-up order. I have recieved other people's orders in the past, and the last time I went, the cashier gave me all ginger dressing instead of ginger sauce. Since I use the ginger sauce for my rice, vegetables, steak and shrimp, this made it very difficult to eat my food. Ultimately, I ate my shrimp, and a few bites of rice (with the help of soy sauce). I had to give my overcooked steak to my dog, since I didn't have the ginger sauce. It really is a shame, because they do have the best ginger sauce of any of the smaller Japanese restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, this last mix-up was the last straw for me. I will not be returning to Yamato, and I advise other people to try another option. The steak at Little Tokyo is always great, but their ginger sauce...
Read moreIf I could put no stars I would this was my first and last visit. I came in to pick up lunch for me and my co workers and the service was horrible. The young lady at front had an attitude and refused to tell us the price over the phone or once we arrived. I had to come out of my pocket and pay for others meals due to lack of knowledge. We were charged a grantuity fee at 2pm in the day all sep orders and I was given an excuse of a large order over 100 again everyone paid separate! The orders where wrong and she refused to let us look in bag stated they are right it is no need. We had people take their food back when calling back the young lady hung up on my coworker this is just disrespectful I've never had this type of issue and not once did a manager assist this young woman. I called in when I left my job to say I was on way 10 mins ago away she stated your food won't be ready for 30 mins I get there no food on grill the grill is clean and all food is boxed up. The food was dry and hard I see why it was cold that food was made and bagged before I arrived. I am very dissatisfied and I nor my company BB&T will be visiting this...
