We decided to eat at Bertucci’s after my daughters cheer competition because it was on the way home. When we walked in, we waited 15-20 minutes for the hostess to greet us. It was not busy. A lot of open tables. When we were finally seated, we waited another 15 minutes for our waitress to come over to take our drink orders. We ordered two Shirley temples for the kids and two glasses of Chardonnay. Since we had waited so long for the waitress, we ended up ordering our food at the same time as our drinks. 10 minutes passed and our waitress came back to our table and told us that they didn’t have Shirley temples that evening. Our kids decided to just order water. About 15-20 minutes later our waitress brought the two waters and the two glasses of wine. My children tried the water and said it was disgusting. Then as I reached for my wine glass, I noticed, clear as day, a big impression of someones lipstick. When the waitress came back we sent the wine back and I ordered a margarita on the rocks with salt. Next she brought out my daughters chicken. So at this point we had two waters, a plate of chicken for my 5 year old and one glass of wine. Then she brought over a bright orange thick liquid with no ice, claiming it was a margarita. I apprehensively took a sip and it tasted like what I would picture the chemicals in a portapotty to taste like. When the waitress came back, I sent that back and asked it to be comped. She was very sweet and said it would definitely be taken off of our bill. I was then told that they didn’t have a bartender that evening and they were very short staffed. When she finally brought over the rest of the food, pizza, pasta, and salad, it was all gross. Tasteless and poorly cooked. At this time we decided to ask for to-go containers because we couldn’t stand sitting in a filthy, repulsively decorated, cafeteria-like restaurant any longer. The waitress was completely overwhelmed with tables. None of this was her fault at all. She comped the glass of wine covered in lipstick, the “margarita”, and the garlic knots that took over an hour to come to our table. Do not ever go to this place. It was absolutely filthy, and the food was awful. I left without eating or drinking anything and paying $65 plus a tip for...
Read moreI had never walked out of a restaurant before today! We were with a group of hockey families and decided to eat at the Bertucci’s in Hingham, Mass as we have always had great experiences at other Bertucci’s and it was right around the corner from the ice rink. We had approximately 1 hour and 45 min before we had to be back for our next game, so we weren’t really in any rush. Had a group of 11 and called ahead to see how busy the restaurant was and the hostess stated that it would take 15-20 minutes to seat us as the restaurant was “full”. We thought it wasn’t big deal and offered to split into smaller groups if made things easier. Arrived at the restaurant less than 5 minutes after calling and half the restaurant was Empty! Hostess did seat us in 15 minutes and we ordered within 5 minutes of sitting. We ordered some pizzas, salads, and a couple simple pasta dishes (nothing that would take more than 10 minutes to cook. Needless to say, after asking 4 times where our food was after waiting 50 minutes and informing the staff that we needed to eat and leave due to a hockey game, we continued waiting until 1 hour and 15 min and I finally had to leave with my son without him getting lunch prior to his game!!!! The rest of our group waited another 15 minutes but still no food! We saw several other tables come in 20-30 minutes after us and they had received their food. As our group walked out of the restaurant, several other tables who had not received any food after extensive waits got up and left as well! The absolute WORST restaurant service I have EVER had!!! Normally Love Bertucci’s, but the Hingham, Mass location is not for anyone who actually likes to eat a meal in some sort of a reasonable (1.5-2...
Read moreI decided to order from Hingham tonight to grab pizza for my family, because of the great BOGO deal. Called, hit one to order, then waited ten minutes on hold, nobody picked up. Called again, hit three to speak to a team member. Same thing.
Decided to just drive over, since I had to drive there to pick up anyway. When I walked in, the dining room was almost full, but there were no parties waiting to be sat. So busy, but not crazy. There were a few people waiting for take out.
I went to the counter, and said I would like to order some take out. There were two employees working the counter, and a manager was there as well. The manager informed me, in a rather rude tone, that it was a two hour wait. Being a bit shocked I said "two hours? Ummm...ok..." Her second rude comment was "Yeah, buy one get one free pizza. So it's two hours."
I said "ok, I'm just gonna step outside and call Braintree. See where they are at."
Her last comment is the ENTIRE reason I am writing this. "You do that."
Having worked the industry for 25+ years, I completely understand having a difficult shift. Promo nights can be crazy. However, at no point was there a need or a cause to be rude. Your manager needs coaching on how to successfully run a difficult shift. I understand that the world is short staffed right now. She needs to understand that without guests coming in to order food, she would have no job.
I did call Braintree. 45 minutes to pick up. Ordered, drove over, got my food. The girls working the counter were great. Very organized, very pleasant. The pizza was excellent.
I guess, long story short, go to Braintree, and...
