Unfortunately, my last meal coming back here was extremely disappointing. Wait was 25 mins on a Sunday morning, not bad. Server was most-likely new so I really cut him some slack but when you write it all down it's hard not to be upset. I ordered a plain waffle combo, eggs scrambled with american cheese and a coffee. Coffee was good although I had to keep asking for creamer and more coffee. My waffle came out with powdered sugar even after I said no to it. Eggs definitely had cheddar cheese not american. Didn't want to send the waffle back to the kitchen. 1) I was starving. 2) I knew it would take forever. The person who brought out my food insisted saying they already had "plenty made fresh". That was not the case, I waited eventually started nibbling on what had already came out; by the time the waffle was done my eggs and bacon were cold. My waffle was dark brown and crisp. Not ONCE did my server ask how everything came out or if we needed more coffee, NOTHING. We were a party of TWO. Needless to say, it was just a very sad meal. Did bring it to the cashiers attention while paying, she apologized and said she would speak to her server, said I didn't have to pay but it wasn't about the money it was about the poorly preped meals and attitude of the employees. I guess now I remembered why I stopped...
Read moreI was very disappointed in our service yesterday at this location. I have a gluten allergy and always look forward to being able to dine out. I ordered chilaquiles with chicken and got the with chorizo when they arrived about 30-40 min later. I returned them and got back the chicken I had ordered. The food was so cold the cheese wasn't even melted. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and the only thing warm was the potatoes. Gravy was still cold. Our waiter never came to see if we needed a refill on coffee or our little cups of water we had for the entire time we were there. He sent the manager who asked if he could take my plate to make a fresh one.... I thought it should always be fresh. I declined the offer given that we had already waited that long to get my unsatisfactory order twice. Then my son finished his food and noticed a hair on his plate. At that point I couldn't even eat my cold plate of food. I didn't even get my receipt from the waiter to pay for my food so I had to just walk up to the register and tell the young lady what I had ordered so she could charge me. The place was not terribly busy as we were seated as soon as we got there. I was highly disappointed in the service and...
Read moreEgg Harbor Cafe has been a spot I've visited multiple times, and while I truly want to love it, my experiences have been a bit of a mixed bag. The food itself is generally good, offering enjoyable breakfast and brunch options. However, I've noticed a distinct inconsistency in quality from one visit to the next. It seems to vary, perhaps depending on the chef on duty or how busy the restaurant is at the time. A more consistent issue has been the service. While I understand busy periods can lead to delays, there have been a few occasions where the wait for service, or even just to get the check, felt excessively long, even when the restaurant didn't appear to be at peak capacity. This inconsistency in both food and service, particularly during my most recent visit, makes it difficult to award a full five stars. There's definitely potential for a great dining experience, but the variability means I approach each visit with a bit of uncertainty. I'm hopeful these aspects can become more reliable, as I believe Egg Harbor has the foundation to be a consistently top-notch...
