I've been shopping there for about 10-15 years because I love the excitement of a good find. I got the most awesome coat there one year, it's been about 10 years and I just can't part with it. I continue getting compliments.
The reason for only 2 stars is the owner. There is something about her dimeanor that is a cross between snubbery and a negative aura. I brought some clothes for resale, many years ago and. She took maybe one or two pieces, the rest she discarded with an undertone. I felt really bad walking out of there. I never went back there for consignment. The next few times, I was a customer and I got the vibe, something along the lines of "you're a lesser citizen for shopping for used clothes here". Another time, I tried engaging her into a conversation. I complimented her for a great business venture and suggested that she opens a location in Naperville, where I live. I am a supporter of small business, especially women-owned businesses. As a former small business owner, I would welcome such feedback. Instead, she gave me a laugh and said something along the lines, "never, ever will I go back to that awful town, where I lived with my ex". This was another moment with the owner that has stayed with me for all these year.
It is for the first time, I am reading the reviews and they hit home. In part, I am glad that it wasn't just me being rubbed the wrong way. Her responses, although mostly positive, are rather shocking. You just don't see such owner responses on-line often. One negative comment after another, mostly about her being so disliked, she just doesn't seem to get a point.
My suggestion to the owner, would be to take a back seat role and allow her staff (they're all wonderful and she did a wonderful selecting them) run the store operations. I'm sure there is plenty of work within the business, that are not customer facing. Perhaps, the back office operation is the owner's best talent and allow her staff to do what they do best.
I wish the owner much success and I hope that she takes this feedback...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis boutique was very cute. Right when I walked in, I was greeted by gorgeous colors and a wide selection of apparelā¦. for XS-M. There was one tiny little section for L clothing items. Not only this, but the only thing that was said to me was āHiā and āHave a nice weekend.ā But everyone else that walked in after me was greeted with a āHi, welcome in! Can I help you find anything?ā I wouldāve loved help to find the small section for the large items. I donāt know if it was because Iām not stick thin or because I was wearing plain clothes. I even made eye contact with multiple employees! Must not have noticed my $600 Tom Ford sunglasses.
Edit to reply to owner: Hi! I promise I didnāt. I came in when there was only one other person in the store & I was greeted with a āHiā but I was not attended to in the same manner that everyone else was. I totally get that you get Tom Ford glasses all the time, but maybe it was because I wasnāt wearing Canada Goose or something with a larger logo that I wasnāt attended to the same way that everyone else. I walked around the whole boutique to only find one small section with L. I found no XL in the store. Iām not sure if you were just low on your supply, but I can promise I only saw one part with L sizes. Why would I ask for help when I was not good enough to offer help to? I was ready to buy one of the few shirts that fit me, but decided against it because it seemed that my money was not wanted. I appreciate you responding and hopefully youāll take my experience into consideration when greeting/attending to guests and the supply...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is in response to "Cynthia Dukes" review.......I have had the luxury of being associated with the owner, staff, and the overall "vibe" of Kelsey Resale for for the last year and a half. I have never been exposed to such a positive group of people and place of business in my 57 years of being on this planet. I have personally got to know everyone that works there and every single individual I have met has made me a better person. The way that they conduct themselves should be the model for every small business. Please keep in mind that I come from a completely different professional background, which is why I have been so impressed. Here is where it gets dicey, Cynthia Duke has personally attacked the "Owner" which also happens to be my Wife. My Wife, the "Owner" is a lot of things, none of which even come close to what Cynthia is describing. She is the best human being on this planet that I have ever met. She is sweet, caring, selfless, humble, and possibly the most compassionate woman ever. I also think that she is the most beautiful person ever! BUT, she also has a business to run, sometimes the inventory items that she has to take in for consignment may be of significant value to the consigner, but not necessarily be of value to Kelsey Resale, which is why I feel Cynthia is attacking my Wife. It is just the business model that has made Kelsey Resale successful. There is no need for anyone to take it personally. You can attack the business model, attack me, but to attack my Wife is way out of...
