My wife, young daughter and myself had a 8:30 reservation at Nabuki on Friday night. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were sat at a table immediately. The restaurant was busy but not entirely full. We sat at our table for over 10 minutes before we were finally approached by our waiter (AJ). He did introduce himself to us and simply stated “what do you want to drink” abruptly. My wife and I placed our drink order and a split second after she finished her order he bolted cutting her off before she could order a beverage for my daughter. We were confused and annoyed since it took him over 10 minutes to just come over to our table and he just took off. We looked at each other said we did not think this was going to be a good experience but tried to remain positive. He proceeded to walk by us numerous times not looking in our direction. Another 10 minutes passed and he brought our drinks out quickly dropped them off and said he would be back cutting us off again when we attempted to place our order. Another 10 minutes went by before we saw him. It was now 9pm over 30 minutes since we sat down and he had not come by to take any food order whatsoever. He walked to a table directly next to us and began a full on personal conversation with them and after another 10 minutes it became so ridiculous we got up and left. I went to the hostess and asked to speak to the manager and explained that now 40 minutes after we sat down this waiter AJ which was the first time I had his name ruined our evening! The manger offered a ridiculous solution and asked if we wanted a different server. He seemed as clueless as our “server” AJ. By the time we left most restaurants were closing and my daughter was tired! AJ and Nabuki completely ruined our evening! He is by far the worst sever we...
Read moreMy favorite place for sushi! I drive 30 minutes just to eat here and it is Amazing. It’s totally a hip place to be seen. The staff is amazing. The bar is small but has a couple TVs to catch the games you can watch them do the sushi rolls in front of you in there open kitchen they recently added on with a nice seating area, which is, more quiet than the main dining room. I highly recommend the Stanley Cup. It was a roll that was not on the menu but now they added it because it’s so popular. The edamame is great. The potstickers are amazing the kids enjoy the Japanese soda definitely need reservations. It’s hard to just walk in and get a seat, especially on the weekends they have so many different rolls to choose from the menu. Selection is large and tasty parking in the downtown. Hinsdale is hard to find a spot depending on the time there’s metered parking and after a certain hour it’s free I typically have to park one or two blocks away normally I believe on the weekend they have valet. It’s definitely a fun place to go with friends family and it is kid friendly. It’s totally my favorite sushi restaurant and I drive 30 minutes just to get here and it’s worth all that time in the car to enjoy the staff is super friendly the...
Read morePretentious, expensive and Americanized. This isn't anywhere near a top quality food experience, much less what one should expect at a place that attempts high end Japanese cuisine. The service was friendly, if a bit unprofessional, being slow one moment and then hurried the next – perhaps too hurried as the busboy emptied most of my remaining beer into the glass and took the almost empty bottle away as if it was about to explode. I paid $10 for the beer, I'd like to drink all of it, thank you. The sushi was about as stingily portioned as you could attempt to get away with, and it wasn't particularly high quality. The snapper sashimi special was just a bad idea. Sriracha sauce dabbed onto decent quality paper thin slices of snapper (warm?) and then doused with a big mass of wet soya laden daikon. Not really appealing to look at and a bit of a chore to even finish. Apparently this place caters to the sushi roll crowd, as that was what almost everyone else was ordering. Big platters of nothing but Americanized rolls. Not terrible, by any stretch, and it's a nice looking room (although really loud) but I had hoped for just a decent quality Japanese restaurant with top grade fish. Didn't...
