Google (RIGHT HERE) showed their hours closing at 3:30pm. We drove about 22 miles on 2/1/25 JUST to come here, and already planned to order 5 sandwiches we chose prior to coming. Keep in mind, we walked in at 3:10pm. It was our first time there. The bartender asks us if we’re looking for sandwiches. We say yes, and she says, “Oh, they close at 3.” Confused AF, we say, “Your Google page says 3:30pm! So no one updates your hours?” She responds, “Yeahhh, those are our summer hours.” (Then just stops and stares back, doesn’t say anything after that.) We look over by the sandwich counter, and there’s a number of workers there. Don’t forget we are ONLY 10 MINUTES after their “summer hours”. It’s a sandwich shop with limited menu, which means many things are pre-prepped. How long would it have taken to make, and then have happy 1st time customers? The bar tender sees a family with kids come in only 10 min after 3pm based on the (outdated) hours listed on the restaurant’s Google page. So why can’t they look over at the sandwich station, see the employees still standing right there, and WALK OVER to see if they’d be able to take our order to go? I would have at least appreciated an attempt at helping us, or apologize and say you’ll tell the manager about the listed hours right away. But we didn’t receive any customer service, and just got turned away and then blankly stared at. Maybe they’re told to turn away people when the clock strikes. Who knows but wasn’t...
Read moreJust walked out after a great work lunch at Pronto! Had a Brando and sat at the bar working while Emmy was working the take out area. She was very pleasant and did her job well - and cared! She talked about the sandwiches, the ingredients, and the bread with pride. That makes a big difference. Sitting at the bar also gives you a great experience/view of ambiance and feel of Pronto/ Il Poggiolo which is really nice and laid back, at least at lunch. It was a wonderful place to work for lunch.
Now, the sandwiches. I got the Brando, and it was amazing. The bread was a great combination of crunch and chew with a nice sweetness. The meats and cheeses are great quality, especially the mortadella, though they all tasted fantastic. Combine that with some sweet, thinly sliced tomatoes, slightly spicy Calabrian chili aioli, and tangy mild giardinara, and my oh my, you have a perfect lunchtime bite. Still hungry? Chips come with it. Don’t forget the Pellegrino (I opted for aranciata) or a cocktail if you’re feeling it (especially since it was sunny and they have a patio -aperol spritz season is here)
I also opted for some more sandwiches to go for my family and myself (gotta try the Scorsese)

Read moreFood - Absolutely delicious. Exactly like a true Italian sandwich should taste. If you’re expecting it to be like All’-antico Vinaio in Florence then this is your place. We had the Coppola ($15) and the Scorsese ($17). They were huge, really the size of 2 sandwiches each, which makes sense for the price.
Service - Was lucky enough to get a couple sandwiches on a Sunday at 1pm. Walked in and was told it would be 1-1.5 hours wait after ordering. Was able to order on DoorDash and it was ready for pickup in 20 mins, so they must have been getting crushed with online orders. By the time I came back to get my DoorDash pickup, they were putting up a sold out sign and they should be open until 3:30pm?
Atmosphere - it’s inside an Italian restaurant by the bar area, so it’s nice. Really tight space though. Would highly recommend ordering / paying online and only walking in for pickup. Parking is tough because it’s DT Hinsdale but there’s some street spots and a...
