I stopped in this place today as I was driving through Hinsdale and I was glad I did. I ended up buying 3 days worth of meals when I only stopped in for a slice of pizza !
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Carmela, who was incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and informative. She guided me through the menu, which boasts an array of Italian classics, all made with the highest quality ingredients.
What sets Altamura Pizza apart is their dedication to authenticity. The crusts are imported directly from the Puglia region in southern Italy, milled from world-renowned durum semolina wheat. Hand-tossed and stone-baked by Italian Pizzaioli, the pizza crust is a testament to the culinary artistry that goes into every dish.
The flavors were nothing short of amazing—each bite was a journey to southern Italy. The authenticity doesn't stop at the pizza; they also offer gluten-free options and charcuterie boards that are just as delightful.
It's rare to find places run with such love and care these days. Altamura Pizza is not just a restaurant; it's an experience that brings the warmth and flavors of southern Italy right to your table.

Read moreThe food was very good (varied pizzas, a pan of baked penne and a pan of meatballs); the service was friendly. My only complaint was I asked the food to be catered for a party I was hosting. Catering normally means the food is delivered hot and ready to serve so the host doesn't have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Everything was delivered ice cold with cooking instructions. I spent an hour away from my guests having to cook in shifts (the two pans and five pizzas). Everyone enjoyed the food, but the day was not as planned.
Adding to Altamura's response. My only comment to benefit future customers is remove catering from your website. Carry and bake is not catering. Again, catering means food is "serve and eat." So if the food is meant to be hot, it is delivered hot....

This is by far the best pizza that I've had anywhere hereabouts. I ordered the specialty pesto pizza in the personal size and it was served to me hot and fresh in just over 5 minutes. After taking my first bite, the high quality of the dough and ingredients became immediately apparent. The dough was rich in olive oil without being oily. It also was perfectly crispy. The pesto had a wonderful basil and garlic flavor and wasn't overpowering. Everything about the pizza that I ordered was perfect. Texture, taste, and color. They also offer take and bake if you want an easy dinner for the...
