I ordered a spicy beef patty, a “large” oxtail plate w/ rice & peas (since they were out of yellow rice) & tasteless cabbage. I also ordered a side order of jerk chicken. My total was around $45.
The woman fixing my plate literally attempted to skimp me on everything on my plate. I know because the other employee put so much meat on the customer’s plate behind me that she had to tell her to take some off. The woman “helping” me was EXTREMELY rude! She even rolled her eyes at me after I questioned why I was only given a small baby sized corner of cabbage (although the cabbage turned out to be completely bland! No taste whatsoever…), and after I asked why was I being charged $12.99 for the entree only portion of jerk chicken (which was DRY & not spicy) which is the same price as the meal.
I then asked for the sides since I’m being charged anyway… I was given “spinach rice” and the bland cabbage, but the spinach rice includes more like a veggie melody (peas, carrots, & green beans) not actual spinach in the rice.
Overall, the only things that were worth my 20 min drive were the plantains, jerk sauce (not the dry chicken), & the spicy beef patty. My oxtails were tender but sort of sweet & not trimmed enough of the fat, not to mention the extremely small portion size for a “large” at $25.99.
I will never be back to this location. The customer service is rude, inconsistent, & not worth the price and...

I really wanted this to be a good review considering that this is only the 3rd day they have been open but it is quite the opposite. I was excited to see that Golden Krust was opening in Hiram so close to home and stopped by for lunch today. The food was initially appealing upon first impression. I ordered Brown stew chicken, rice & peas, and the standard cabbage and plantain. All the food was flavored/seasoned properly and up to typical Golden Krust standards. BUT the chicken was "overcooked and a little hard". Not sure if it was reheated or just overcooked. Most importantly, most people know the rice provides the perfect balance to West Indian/Caribbean food..Well, the rice in the rice and peas was "undercooked" and a too hard/crunchy. It was just rough to eat it. Being that the rice is the main portion of the meal, it made my meal practically inedible. Nothing amazing about customer service.
I am hoping that management can improve their standards. I will probably come back with my family once more to see if things have improved after they work out all of the kinks. Until then, home...
Read moreI visited Golden Krust on 6/12/21. I ordered the rice and peas, cabbage and beef stew. After I get outside and before reaching my car, I noticed my food spilled over in the bag. The food container may have not been closed properly. I returned to Golden Krust and explained it to three different people before a manager stepped in. I noticed immediately they were hesitant with replacing the food. The manager asked me what I had, I explained. She angrily threw my food in the trash and stated she will make a new plate. After filling the new plate with veggies, the manager takes the beef dish to the back and return with more. I noticed the pieces of meat she was picking intentionally were larger than the other meat. I didn't think anything of it. After arriving home an hour later I opened my plate and noticed the manager put chicken in my plate and no beef. I don't eat chicken. I paid for beef and was given chicken. I am not pleased and the manager at this restaurant was dishonest. I guess I should have checked my food more thoroughly before I left. I've visited other Golden Krust frequently and have never experienced this...
