I placed an order on DoorDash. Got the usual messages about preparation. Then a message showing that the food was picked up. After a while I noted the driver as being halfway to my place. Then suddenly I received a text from the driver saying he was waiting on the order. The map disappeared. I called the restaurant, because I was concerned. They were not answering the phone. I contacted door dash and was treated as if it wasn’t that persons concern. I called the restaurant again. A man answered the phone and said hello. Did not mention the restaurant name. He said his name was Karam. Not sure how it’s spelled. He confirmed and said the order was late. I mentioned my concern, but the food arrived. I ordered the tortellini salad with two other sandwiches for myself and my spouse. I opened the tortellini and took a bite and it was rancid. My spouse smelled it. It was disgusting. I called the restaurant and told Karam it was spoiled, and he became argumentative with me, and told me to call door dash. A rat wouldn’t have even eaten this out of the trash, because that’s where it should have been placed. I finally got DoorDash to give me a full refund. We don’t trust the rest of the food, so it’s going in the trash as well. I’ve ordered from Lisa’s many times in the past, and never had an issue. I do t know if this man the owner, but I’m so disgusted by the food quality and his treatment of me, that I won’t be ordering from there ever again. Especially if food safety is an issue. Very...
Read moreI am not one to write a bad review unless the service is exceptionally bad. I just left this place and that will be my last time stepping foot in there. I ordered online and came in at the time my food should be ready. I walk up to the counter and am greeted by a blonde lady saying “what do you want” in a rude tone. My order wasn’t ready yet so I step to the side and wait patiently, watching and listening to her other customer interactions. In the span of 10 min, one customer walked out because of how rude she was to them, another man tried to take his order that was ready off the shelf and she yelled at him for touching the bags and yelled at him to get out of the shop, and lastly, another lady was trying to make light conversation and said “busy day huh?” And the blonde lady proceeds to snap at her “don’t talk to me”. Finally after 10 minutes of waiting I ask “any chance the order for xyz is ready?” And she says “use your eyes and look”. I grabbed my bag and left. Food and pricing is good and very convenient location for me, but the bare minimum people skills is a nonnegotiable for me. I will be taking my...
Read moreI have lived in or near Hoboken for almost 40 years, and have partaken of many a sub/hoagie/hero sandwich. Mostly mediocre. None near approaching the perfection of Lisa's Italian sub. Friends and I have often puzzled over what makes them so perfect: the crusty and flavorful bread? the freshest of fresh mozzarella? the superb blend of ingredients? Likely all of these. They are VERY long, so I suggest going with someone and sharing a whole ($11.50). You will be asked "hot or sweet peppers?" Either answer is correct.
I LOVE introducing this place to people. A few years ago a dining companion was speechless after her first bite and declared it the best sandwich she had ever eaten. For my birthday last year I had a bunch of them delivered to hearty acclaim.
There are so many other likely delicious things to eat in Lisa's but I confess I never tried any of them, aside from an occasional beverage or tiramisu. When you have found the quintessential meal, why change?
