Dickey's Barbecue Pit — Restaurant in Holland Charter Township

I want to like this place but I got pretty bad service a few times.

The first time, I showed the employee an offer I'd received on my phone. It was buy 2 Big Yellow Cups and a 2-meat plate, get a 2-meat plate free. I got overcharged $14. I told her the amount was wrong and showed her the offer again. She ignored me and said it would ring up the same if she tried it again. I filled out a complaint, including my receipt code, TWICE and got nothing but an automated response both times. I feel like I should have been refunded or at least given $14 of free food since I had physical proof of being overcharged.

A little over a week ago, I tried a mobile order. I got there and told the employee my name. She was wearing greasy gloves and had been (I assume) prepping meat. She opened the door of the warmer and handed my bag to me while still wearing the gloves. My bag was covered in grease and there was nowhere I could grab it without getting grease on my hands. I filled out a complaint online because I thought that was pretty gross and unsanitary. I got an offer for a free sandwich. There is nowhere online where I could find to enter the code. I called the restaurant and the employee said she had no idea about how to do anything on the app and that I should...

The food is okay, the low rating is mostly for my odd experience here though?

The food was pretty cold except for some sides. Tasted good but just didn't seem warm enough. Pretty pricey, but that wasn't the issue at all, bbq just is more work and I don't mind paying for it. However...

The service was so strange, they seemed annoyed and bothered we were there from the second we walked in but they didn't close for an hour or two and it was pretty empty. No eye contact with anyone when were were ordering, which just made it start off super uncomfortable.

The guy who took the order didn't say a word to us or look at us, I wasn't even sure if we were supposed to order, we had to ask if we order here and he nodded without looking up at us. Whenever I said thank you, the shorter girl with dark hair rolled her eyes..?

We all left and had a "that was super weird and rude? wasn't it?" chat that we had never had before at a restaurant and we go out to eat maybe a few times a week. Maybe they were all having a bad day, but I really don't understand why we were treated like we were an annoyance or a bother. We probably won't choose this place again and stick to other local...

I've been there 2 times and my experience was not consistent. The first time I got a platter and it was good. The second time a pulled pork sandwich that was too fatty for my tastes. The staff there can be inattentive.

Update: 03/24/2024 visit, about 16:00, 3-meat plate, they were out of pulled pork which seems odd to me at that time of day, so I got chopped brisket, the jalapeno-cheddar sausage, and chicken, sides were the potato casserole and baked beans. The brisket was fatty, but both the chicken and sausage were very good, with my favorite being my favorite. The sides were unremarkable, with the beans being a major disappointment for a BBQ place. Again, the staff was inattentive and would disappear when there were no customers. Notes on the beans, simply save all of your meat scraps and add them and some BBQ sauce to improve the beans, this should be done in-house.

Note, while Google says that this is temporarily closed, I do believe that it has been permanently closed along with some of the other locations, this location has been closed for several months. In summary, it was in an odd location, there were employee and management issues, and the food...
