BEWARE! This restaurant charges an 18% SERVICE CHARGE on TO GO ORDERS! I decided on Sunday to order takeout at ChileLimon in Hollywood because of the food I had at their Yellow Green Farmers Market location. Also, I would save $10 in parking fee by going to the other location. The Yellow Green Farmers Market location also charges an 18% service charge, but they bring your food to your table when itâs ready, âproviding some type of serviceâ. Charging customers 18% service charge on a To Go order is ROBBERY! I didnât notice the service charge until I got in my car. I immediately went back into the restaurant and asked why was I being charged a service charge on a To Go order? I was told that the charge is added to the receipt automatically and that it could only be removed by the owner, who conveniently wasnât there that day. I decided to return today to speak with the owner. I asked the owner why was I charged an 18% service charge on a To Go order? He told me, âthe 18% charge was for the services.â I replied, but youâre charging me for services I didnât have. I didnât eat in your restaurant. I literally ordered my food over the phone and drove to your restaurant to pick up my order. The owner replied, â the charge is for the Cook to make the food and to pack it up.â I then asked him, why are customers charged for the Cook to make their food? Isnât that your job to pay the Cook. Also, it shouldnât cost customers 18% of their bill for your Cook to place the food in a container and then in a plastic bag. Inflation is high, gas prices are high and food is expensive no matter who can afford it or not. Itâs a lot to get in your car and use up gas to pick up a takeout order to take back home. In addition, why should I be charged 18% to patronize your business? Spending my hard earned money there should be enough. Since the owner didnât offer a refund on the 18% service charge I asked for one and was told, âI do not give refundsâ. He then proceeded to tell me, âIâve been in this location for 1 and a half year and I never had anyone complain about the 18% service charge on a To Go order.â Which obviously is a lie because there are others in the Google Review section complaining about the 18% SERVICE CHARGE! This is extremely disappointing because the food is moderately ok at best but I will NEVER patronize this business again with them charging customers 18% of their bill to have the Cook prepare your food. CUSTOMERS save your hard earned money and order burritos from restaurants that appreciate customers patronizing their...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing experience! The atmosphere was beautifulâopen, airy, and it instantly reminded me of the restaurants back in Mexico. We came on a Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised by the live music. The gentleman singing had a great variety of songs, and the volume was just rightâadding to the ambiance without being overpowering.
Now letâs talk about the foodâdelicious from start to finish! ⨠Appetizer: We started with the esquites with steakâso flavorful and cooked perfectly. đŽ Entrees: I had the Gringa Quesadilla with tacos al pastor, pineapple, cilantro, and more. Absolutely amazing! I also tried the al pastor tacos, and they were just as good. My husband had the birria tacos and said they were perfection. We also sampled the churrasco tacosâtender, well-seasoned, and delicious. đśď¸ The tomatillo spicy sauce? Chefâs kiss. đ° Dessert: We finished with the vanilla cake topped with dulce de leche, and wowâit was out of this world. Iâve never had anything like it!
Our server was attentive, helpful, and really walked us through the menu since it was our first visit. Safe to sayâit definitely wonât be our last!
Thank you for the amazing food and warm hospitality. Highly...
Read moreDucked in because the place is in my area of operations and I wanted to scout it. So I love the spot, and subsequently added them to my walking-food-tours in the area as they are that awesome, here's why:
The place is Mexican-Peruvian fusion, that is a rarity. Kind of like a unicorn, special and magical.
They make their tortillas from hand and they are cooked to order, that is a real UNICORN. I know, I lived in Mexico for a year.
All the flavors here are fresh, homemade, and made with care and love. Like their cocktails. They routinely serve either Pina Coladas or Tamarind Margaritas to my tour guests and the guests LOVE IT!
I dunno the last time you had a Tamarind Marg, but I suggest you go out of your way to come here and try one. Replete with dry ice inside for additional effect.
The Pinas are made from scratch. No bottle gunk here. They also toast coconut to put atop. Delish!!
The service is amazing. They do a good job of staying well-staffed and very attentive. I see you.
They had live music the last time I was there, and during this time of year, the weather is delightful.
Check it out, tell them Steve from the food tour sent ya, and thank me...
