The food was promising from first glance- there was a nice small menu that is well-designed and offers some relatively healthy options for everyone to love.
To be certain, the food was perfectly fine, but not over the top or commensurate with cost. It did feel like it was of good quality, and there was certainly a respectable vision behind it all.
We ordered two sandwiches and two drinks and the bill was just shy of $80.00usd...
They don't inform you of a 4% card service charge and a 15% service charge, so when the cashier whipped the credit card pad around, I was shocked at how high the bill was, but as I typically always do, I tipped 20%...
That's 20% on top of the already tipped percentages... Also that tip is on top of 7% sales tax...
I'm not a mathematician but you're approaching a 50% surcharge. That's unacceptable.
There needs to be a sign very clearly on the keypad or at the cash register that expressly states all this.
I would absolutely still have brought the tip total to 20%, but not 50 for a walk-up 30-second transaction.
As someone with service industry experience, I would strongly imagine that these employees don't even see all of those tips, it's pretty likely the enterprise is dipping into them, though uncertain.
I'm all about tipping service industry professionals for their value, and stRongly believe it's simply what you do as a decent human being, but dude wtf man, very lame.
Ultimately, we got the wrong coffee that may have had no espresso in it. The cashier rang it in incorrectly.
The matcha wasn't even mixed, just sitting in the bottom of the cup - which don't get me wrong - it's hard to assimilate matcha period, let alone in a cold drink, but for 8 bucks, they could've used one more barista or something because the guy was super busy, though to his credit, well-composed and polite. Frankly, they were understaffed.
There was food all over the floor, like you're walking on bits of unidentifiable matter that again could have been remediated with one more employee, as the cashier also had to run food while the line to order only grew.
Given the volume of people and transactions I witnessed while I was waiting and dining, if they had all ordered a drink and a sandwich, then this place is grossing a couple thousand an hour during peak times, and they could probably rationalize the expenditure.
Yes it's very costly to rent a large spot in a commercially-lucrative destination, and I can only speculate that overhead is quite high, so I want to be compassionate about that, but there are just some real issues and the value proposition is obtuse and quite skewed fo the customer. It could be readily adjusted, as this place has a couple good things going for it - cute, off the hustle and bustle of the beach, well-imagined menu, etc - execution isn't bad, but it's not worth the fine dining price tag.
I want to be supremely clear: most of this isn't an employee issue, it's fundamentally a nature-of-the-enterprise issue first...
Read moreI went to Elaleph Coffee Haus on March 11th, 2023 at approximately 3pm. Where I was met with a very rude employee. I had ordered a breakfast sandwich & coffee, but once she refused to give me my proper change back, I discontinued my order. Then my friend still wanted a coffee, so he told the woman his exact coffee order, "One medium coffee with milk." His same daily order at any coffee place we attend. She handed him a black coffee, he inquired about the milk, which she refused and said,"Coffee creamer only." He told her that he originally asked for milk, which I know he did. She grabs some cup of milk off the work counter behind her, slammed it on the counter and stated, " I'm giving you this milk, free, take it." Walked away using profanity. I was in shock. I've never seen such rude unprofessional behavior. Especially in Elaleph Coffee Haus ever. I frequent this location, yet after this episode, I honestly believe, that I, or any of my associates, will never return. There's other shops around with much more Courteous service. This whole event is disappointing as we use the hotel across the street, regularly for business. It's true, one employee can sink a business. Oh...
Read morerest in the hotel above this cafe. The food is delicious and beautifully presented, but the service sucks, the coffee tastes burnt too. The guy who was when we were in the first time, there are no questions for him. The girl who took our order speaks Spanish, right at the time when we called our order, she turned away and talked to her coworker , I ordered the main course in creme brulee for dessert, which was served to me completely frozen, after I asked to change it, they brought me the same creme brulee but a little thawed, but it still frozen inside. Instead of avocado-tuna on toast, my husband was brought in wrap, although the girl asked us exactly how we want to get our dish, after we said about it, she said "yes, I know, it's just a kitchen mistake." She also forgot to add tiramisu to the order. I myself work a manager in restaurant , and I understand if it’s so busy, but in the cafe at the time when we sat down to eat there was one table. I always remain respectful to the staff because I know how it works, but when my mood is spoiled for the second day in a row due to inattention and laziness, this...
