The worst place to stay spend a little bit of more money and find yourself a better place this place has roaches the bathroom had what I thought was boogers, blood and other stuff stuck to the walls the headboard was on the floor there was a lot of dirt and trash under the bed when I opened the cabinet the first thing that fell out was a roach we were in the bathroom and the mirror randomly just cracked I'm assuming from the steam and the hair dryer running from my wife doing her hair at the same time I went to the front desk and mentioned something and they said they would switch my room I passed on the offer and just stayed in the room and dealt with what I had expected for them to do something more for me like at least give me a discount but when I got home I was charged a security deposit which I assume was for the mirror I called the property and no one answers the phone had my booking agent call as well and no answer. They also have a scam going on with the parking lot the guy that sold me the parking space in front of the registration office said he was going to guarantee me a parking space for $20 a night or I can pay 25 and pay in the big parking lot and have to walk a distance so I did the $20 a night with him my second night I had a problem where a gentleman would just parking cars from an event that was going on in the hotel I told him I was going to come right back I need my parking space he says we do not guarantee parking spaces here so I went to the front desk to speak to the Spanish lady behind the counter and she said she does not know anything about the parking spaces being sold so as I was walking away the gentleman magically appeared at the front door and said is there a problem I said yes this gentleman said that wasn't going to have a parking space when I came back I did have my space but the lady at the front desk jumped in the car with him and what I assume was their child and drove off I'm just puzzled at why she said she does not know what's going on in the parking lot when they obviously look like they were a couple how do you not know what's going on in your parking lot when this gentleman is there all day and he has a room on the side of the hotel which looks like a little storage area. The hotel is very old and tired I bet at the time the hotel was built this place was gorgeous but now it's very tired a lot of abandoned stores inside. And there was also roaches coming out the trash can in front of the elevator and since we're speaking of elevator's there was only one working at the time and the one that was working felt and look dangerous the door just slams and closes if you get caught between it I think you would get hurt. But the beach was great and the Christmas candy cane parade was at the time of our stay and that was great they handed out candy canes and had the parade going down the boardwalk very nice. They had a couple of restaurants across the street but they were pricey and it looked like you needed a Mercedes-Benz just to pull up there they had a taco bar and the same parking area as the hotel which was great serve tacos had beer and live music had a great time there.

Too bad there is no -100 stars rating! Absolutely the worst experience in all of our vacations so far. First time we stayed at this hotel 2 years ago. We had an OK room, altough we had some issues with one of the beds, however we solved it. This year, well, this hotel would be a great foundation for Stephen King's next horror book. We booked this hotel thru expedia. I assume that expedia has no idea what product it is selling. - There is no reception at the hotel. You have to walk to another building to check in/out. - The room was filthy and poorly maintained, see pictures - Parking is about $24 per night. However there is an option to purchase municipal parking for about $22/week, but you will have to find a spot on the curb beside the city's meter. - Out of 3 elevators only one us hardly working. When you are inside the elevator, the doors slam so hard, you would think the elevator takes you down to meet Freddy Krueger. - The management doesnt have enough resourses to print out a nice "OUT OF SERVICE" notice, it is done by handwriting. - We booked a room with a kitchen and stove. Well, the gas did not work and we coyld not cook any food for our kids, however we were charged for a room with kitchen. - On the second day we requested to change rooms because we could not stay in those anti-sanitary conditions. We were relocated from room 525 to room 321, and guess what ?! there is no much difference. Out of three light bulbs in the ceiling light, only one works. We called maintenance, and here I have to give 5 stars to the "handyman" because he showed up extremely fast. The "handyman" named Ralph was barely speaking english, only Spanish. Who would think that people in United States with official employment do not speak official language. Mr. Ralp looked at the light and told us that the hotel does not have money to fix it. That is what he was able to tell us in English. Then, he brought us a stand light with mold. Afterwards he came back twice to replace those two light bulbs. - The lobby in the hotel is like a scenario from postwar movie. Only two or thee shops are open and they look like thrift store. It looks like once upon a time there was a two storeys mall, however everything is closed - The hotel charges resort fees that should be excluded from the bill. The resort fee includes beach access, but the access is public. Anyone can go back and forth, without being a hotel guest. - We had to contact expedia to request hotel change. Luckily we were relocated to another hotel which will receive 5 stars rating by us - My wife spent several hours on the phone with expedia, trying to get refund for the difference of hotel room without the kitchen, since we were not able to use the kitchen. Since we booked thru expedia and paid at the hotel reception, it was a ping pong game over the phone. Finally we got our refund back, but it was a complete hassle. There is a lot to add, I will just finish off with posting the pictures and warning others: STAY AWAY FROM THIS RAT HOLE!

The elevator was a hit-or-miss with working/not. The gas was off the entire stay. Staff at the office are there just for keeping their seat warm purposes. There's people running up and down in the elevator soliciting drugs. There is a Bellboy downstairs at pull up. But, I believe that only select rooms gets that option as well as room service. The entire building reeks of marijuana and mildew (depending on type of day). I'm giving it 2 stars only because of the location and they do have decent music at night on the weekends downstairs that you can hear from your bedroom. I enjoyed the waves crashing, the breeze ain the evening and it's only a few steps away from the ocean. If you have sensitivity to cold weather or are bringing an elderly person with you, bring your own heater and a walker or wheelchair. As, the room that 8 was in, the thermostat could not be controlled. Chances are, your room is 1/4 mile from the elevator and the parking lot is about a mile away from the front door. So, buy an old lady cart or if you have any luggage uber to the door from your car. Pay the $21.20 for the weekly parking with the city online, print before you get there, and park at the meter on the street. It is just as far as their $24 lot per day. Handicap IS NOT FREE AT YHE METERS! ONLY DESIGNATED BLUE HANDICAPPED PARKING ALLOWED FOR 4 HOURS FOR FREE. There is one HC spot on each block. You will get a $250 ticket ON THE STREET more than 4 hours AND A BOOT IN THE PUBLIC/PVT LOT for any unpaid time. There's a humongous sign that says public parking as you enter but then there is a small sign that says private parking. So do not get a boot on your car like I did thinking that you were in a public parking lot when it is ACTUALLY private. The City of Hollywood and the management at the hotel are obviously In Cahoots together to rob the visitors. Keep your eyes open and always look over your shoulders. Also, dont be misled by the extra long hallways. They will only remind you of the movie "The Shining". I do not believe that there are actual ghost in the building. Although at times, I often did wonder.

We stayed here February 13-18. Its location is AMAZING and it was only $60 a night. That being said, that is about all it has to offer. The building is very run down and has an abandoned feel to it. I wouldn’t feel comfortable walking around the building alone at all. It seems that the only things that ARE being maintained is the electricity. There are 3 elevators but only 1 was "working" for the first 3 days we were there. The buttons and floor indicator rarely lit up. When the floor indicator did light up it wasn't correct and you had to poke your head out the door to see what floor you were really on. Do this carefully because the doors close very quickly without warning. We decided to use the stairs when leaving the room most of the time, instead of waiting for the elevator. The stairs were very filthy and smelled strongly of urine. The last 2 days we were there, the elevator stopped working, but we were directed to the service elevator. Getting to the service elevator was kind of scary and it worked about as well as the main elevator. We arrived at the Hotel very late by Uber and when we approached the Elevators, I had a very “Disney’s Tower of Terror” moment. When we stepped out of the Elevator, we were overcome with the smell of mildew and incense. Other times, the smell of Marijuana could be quite strong. In the room, there was a mildew smell as well, though not as strong as the hallway and after spending time in the room, we got use to it. There were a few pots and pans and dishes for our use that were clean and organized. The kitchen was kept clean including the refrigerator. We made use of the refrigerator and the utensils but didn’t need to use the other items in the kitchen. The living area was clean. The TV and lamps worked although the remote for the TV did not and you had to use the buttons on the TV itself to turn it on/off and adjust the volume and change the channel. The bathroom, though rundown was clean and did have a hairdryer attached to the mirror though in the description on Airbnb one was not listed as well at two bars of soap and two bottles of Conditioning Shampoo. The ceiling would randomly leak from the corner of an access panel on the ceiling. On the morning of our last day, the ceiling was covered in droplets even though we both showered the night before. It made me wonder if something was leaking in the unit above. The bedroom was as tidy and the rest of the unit. The bedding was clean, very comfortable, and fresh smelling, as well as the two towels and one hand towel that were found folded neatly and placed at the foot of the bed. There were no hangers in the closet though and nowhere to set our luggage down except the floor which really wasn’t a problem for us, just letting you know. There was a safe in the closet, though we didn’t use it and an iron and ironing board, which we didn’t use either. The TV and lamps worked as well, the remote however would turn the TV on, off, change the channel and volume but nothing else. It was annoying because someone had turned on the closed caption and we couldn’t turn it off. There was also a air conditioning unit in the room that worked very well in the room but didn’t do much for the rest of the unit and I wonder how it would have been had we been there in the summer time (while there, the temp. didn’t get above 85 degrees). We didn’t spend a lot of the room. It’s location to the beach and the wonderful boardwalk made it very easy to escape to and enjoy what Florida has to offer. We would have liked to have the towels changed once, or provided with four so we could have let one set dry out while using the other. Also if you run out of toilet paper you are invited to PURCHASE another roll at the store across from the abandoned Hotel Registration desk for about $5. We rented a car on Saturday and parked at the building next to the hotel for $24 a night. So if you are looking for an affordable place to stay right on the Hollywood Boardwalk/Beach, and you’re not staying alone. This...

Beware. My husband and I booked a hotel with EXPEDIA (Hollywood Beach Hotel, in Fort Lauderdale Fl.) Upon booking the hotel the EXPEDIA Rep. tells me there will be a one time accommendation fee of $10.00 due at check out.  and that the hotel provides a courtesy shuttle bus to pick us up at the airport and drop us off at the airport when checking out.  Well, upon arriving at the airport, I was told by the hotel to call the conceige at the hotel....well this is when the nightmare begins.  I call the hotel, spoke with the person that was to pick us up, I couldnt understand anything he was telling me, I told him I didnt know what direction I was to go.  He spoke so fast, I told him I couldnt hear him well.   He was irritated, rude and harsh.  After he adruptly hung up I  began to think, omg, what did I get myself into...was every worker in that hotel the same.  When he picked me up I ask him if he was the one I spoke to on the phone...he answered yes.  I told him he was very rude, well guess what, it turned out to be that he was  "the head conceige"...I wasnt thrilled., especially after his nasty treatment over the phone.  Upon arriving at the hotel, we went to register.  Now the front desk was also very unfriendly....well I was right from the start, beginning with the head conceige.  The girl registering us says we are to pay $40.00 for the 4 nights for  hotel accomendations (I wonder what accomendations...rudeness)....I stated that EXPEDIA told me when I booked the hotel it was to be $10.00 at checkout. I argued the point but she said EXPEDIA misinformed me...now she also adds that we are to put down $100.00 for a retainment and  we will get it back at the end of our stay.  SOMETHING ELSE EXPEDIA failed to mention.  We had no choice but to pay, after all it was our first day of vacation.

So now when entering the room....it was NOTHING like the photo online at the time I booked it with EXPEDIA.  I  asked the rep. at EXPEDIA if the photo of the room I was seeing was the exact one we were getting....he said YES.  This room had no blankets or bed spread on the bed. The vertical blinds were missing quite a bit the panels AND the air conditioner was one of those with a giant hose that is installed through the window and the machine was kept between the two beds which was loud as hell.    I had to turn it off in order to sleep.  OH,  I had to put a safety pin on the curtains in order to keep them closed which by the way are regular curtains...no blackout curtains...so that no light comes in in the morning...thats a laugh because these shinsy curtains were transparent. At least they covered those horrible missing panel vertical blinds. So anyway,  I went down to the front desk and complained but they all seemed like "who cares"....It's as if we were not the first victims and they've heard it all before.  I told them I was disappointed in the room and requested another room...their  answer was thats the room I booked.  THEY WERE NOT HELPFUL AT ALL.  They never even called the manager, which if he was a real manager, he would've called me on my room phone to at least apoIogise or try to compensate for the mess. By the way this managers' name is Miguel.  I called EXPEDIA ALL DAY THAT DAY....I kept asking for a supervisor. They kept me on hold for 40 minutes 2X, the other 2X I was disconnected and no one called me back. SO BEWARE OF EXPEDIA AND THIS HORRIBLE HOTEL which reminds me of that movie "The Shining." It smells stale and of old dirty rugs and old syrup.  Doesn't smell clean AT ALL. I find out that there are people livubg at this hotel...they seemed homeless and they roam the area. Meantime we have to pay a pretty buck from our hard earned money...to look forward to a decent vacation...only to leave our nice, safe quite neighborhood for this trashy place. Going out on the boardwalk at night is not a good idea, nothing but a bunch of literally pissy smelly bums hanging out....

Initially we stay there for 8 days, then 3 more. The first room was an studio for 2 people + small kitchen, a convertible couch, + ocean view. The description mentioned 2 restaurants, pool, bar and gymnasium, meals were optional. However the description was nicer than what we were given at 7pm. Locally we were able to upgrade to a nicer room for an extra fee but reasonable. Thanks to Miss Paola a night shift customer service rep who understood our dilemma.and was able to change the room for a comfortable penthouse with excellent ocean view, spacious kitchen, living, dining, 2 large tv with cable, a guest bathroom, no room service, free local calls. The Bkf was included daily, A wise feature since there are no available restaurants inside the hotel just a small cafeteria. This resort at some point should have been a wonderful place with all the amenities expected for a first class hotel. A large exclusive Mall in the main floor and ocean side stores, Movie theater, gymnasium, 2 floors of high end stores, jewelers, restaurants, night entertainment, and private offices. Designed to offer fine and casual dining, bars and lounges, golf, spa, conference facilities, water sports, and a shopping Mall , everything for the perfect Florida vacation. Unfortunately nowadays one can observe deterioration in the rooms, at the lobby, reception, and the Mall area. Stores are empty, no theater, entertainment, nor offices, only one convenience store at the lobby, the cafeteria, gym, outside pool adjacent to the bar. No room service available, no wi-fi in the rooms only at the lobby, and I should warn you in case of a complaint or need of assistance the staff at the reception is useless is only for display. Perhaps if resort had an efficient management team it could offer better service and more amenities. Sad to beleive how a landmark designed some 50 years ago to be the first in its class is fading away slowly due to the effects of the ocean, bad management, and neglect. Even with the setbacks I would recommend this hotel only if the person has an open mind and few expectations, nearly a 3 star hotel but surrounded of amenities, is centrally located, rooms are clean, and keep, kitchen has all appliances, coffee maker with free coffee for 2 daily you could easily prepare a meal, but if cooking isn't for you stepping out the complex and within a short distance you will find at least 10 restaurants with a diversity of gastronomical delights, few bars, rentals stores for mopeds, bikes, jet skis, boats, parasailing and other water sports, not to mention a dozen of stores where you could buy Stuff... The Resort has enough information about tours around the city, is located within walking distance to public transportation, and a few miles away from the Hollywood Airport, parking lot for rental cars is available. The cafeteria offers a nice inexpensive menu for breakfast, portions are generous, only one Small convenience store at the lobby ibut loaded with everything you could possibly need in case of an emergency, from needles, sunblock, ATM machine and few groceries, to ice cream, pizza, cafe and desserts. The bar adjacent to the pool facing the beach has a small menu with a variety of low end meals and fried appetisers, seafood, chicken wings, also hamburgers, hot sandwiches, and small selection of beer, wine and cocktails. Nice establishment where you can enjoy a world class sunset while sipping a nice cold beer... I just wish they had a small band or tropical music it would had made our evening more...
