Staff assured me multiple times curries do not contain any shrimp paste. The next day, come to find out, that wasn't the case.

If you don't have dietary restrictions/ and or allergies, feel free to disregard this review. This is probably the only circumstance where I'm willing to leave a bad review, and it's in the hope that people who need ingredient-transparency can be informed.

I'm a vegetarian, which of course, is no where near as risky as if someone with a shellfish allergy were to eat here (severe shellfish allergies potentially leading to anaphylaxis). Still, I haven't intentionally consumed shrimp in 22 years—I am feeling it the next day.

I understand not everyone is confident differentiating between "vegan," "vegetarian," "pescatarian," etc. which is fair. To be sure, I specifically asked if the curries contained shrimp paste. The waitress explicitly stated, "no, we don't put shrimp in our curries." Out of extreme caution (and past experiences) I asked if the curry paste might contain shrimp paste (fairly common) and was assured the pastes used here don't contain any shrimp whatsoever.

I later noticed curry pastes on the wall at the restaurant so I decided to snap a photo to research later, thinking it could be a nice option to have at home, or could be a reason to steer clear. I'm afraid it's going to be the latter for me. I'll include photos below for anyone who might be curious.

Again, if you don't have dietary restrictions or allergies, feel free disregard...

If you are tired of Pho, you have to try King of Thai Boat Noodles for that noodle soup experience at a whole different level.

Don't get me wrong, I still love pho noodles, but it is kind of the same after a while. Thai boat noodles offer richer soup bases and more varieties of noodle choices to change it up from the simplicity of pho noodle soups.

The Combination Beef Noodle Soup offers a rich and spicy dark broth loaded with hearty chunks of different beef. It is truly filling and satisfying, so you won't be hungry for a while.

For something way different, there is the Yen Ta Fo Noodle Soup. It offers lots of seafood in a red bean based broth that is impossible to describe, but something you must try. I am not sure if it is for everyone and probably need to be in the mood for it, but very good all the same.

The Crab Meat Fried Rice is a great dish to share. It has lots of crab meat that has been perfectly fried with onions in the rice. Simple on the ingredients, which is perfect for highlighting the crab meat flavor that comes out.

Of course they make classic Thai Green Papaya Salad, which is made fresh to order. The balance of ingredients really makes this dish a perfect starter or side with you order.

The place is very clean and well lighted. Service was friendly and fast. Over all value of their dish prices was very good and well worth it. This review was written after my second visit and I plan to go again for sure, so yes, I do...

I waited a while to try this place as in the beginning there were very mixed reviews. I’m glad I tried them as whatever the issues were, I didn’t experience them. They are located at the former Malee’s across Walmart on Keeaumoku. I got there at 11am and they informed me they weren’t quite ready but I was welcomed to sit in. I did. I ordered the khao soi $12.99 since it is the specialty. I also got it vegetarian. It was excellent. Almost like a panang curry base. It comes with a side of bean sprout, cilantro, lime and a pickled item like daikon. I could only eat half it was so filling. I also ordered the spicy seafood salad $15 which was a bit overpriced imo for what they served you. But, the taste was good with tang and salty and although I ordered it medium heat, it had a pretty big kick. I ate only half too and brought my leftovers home. Thai coffee $3.50 was just ok. Service was good and attentive even when they filled up a half hour later. I’m not sure who the older gentleman that walked in later was as he worked in the kitchen, but he used prayer hands to his crew which was mimicked. If you know anything about Thai’s, it is a form of respect so I was pleased to see this here. Be forewarned this is not a fast food establishment. The food does take a while to make. I will definitely return to try the...

This restaurant is small but mighty. They have a great selection of your standard Thai fare along with some special and unique items. It’s in a busy downtown area not far from Waikiki beach and a big shopping district. The staff were very attentive and polite, the food came out very quick, and all of it was high quality. The selection of different sauces on the table were all high quality and made in house. Appetizers: The roti with peanut sauce was such a surprising and wonderful item. Perfectly fried but not too rich and perfectly paired with the peanut sauce for dipping. The deep fried dumplings were well formed and had a lovely filling of chicken and pork with a soy ginger sauce. Entrees: One of the best khao soi I’ve ever had. The rich and flavorful curry complimented the perfectly cooked noodles. It was comforting and perfect and I hope to get it again someday. This was my first time trying khao moo daeng and I loved it. It’s a great balance of sweet, salty, and sour. The penang curry was exceptional balancing the creamy curry with just the right amount of heat.
