Hotel is vastly overpriced. Once you add on the $25/day "resort fee" (which covers basic hotel stuff like coffee and a fridge, and is compulsory), it ends up being much more expensive than a much nicer room elsewhere. The rooms themselves are motel quality, and the entire building (minus the pool/bar area) just looks old and tired. The only good thing I could really say about it is that the staff was great. Very friendly and helpful. -Tons of mold in the shower. Bad enough I avoided touching the walls. Photo attached to review -TV was old and the screen had pretty bad burn-in. Input button was disabled to try to prevent bringing a streaming box. Just unplug the cable box and use that input. -The room had single-pane glass doors going out to the balcony that provided almost no noise insulation from outside. The traffic from Ala Moana made the room incredibly loud and I'd have to turn the tv up to try to drown out the traffic noise. I also wound up keeping the wood doors shut the whole time to try to block the noise, which killed any view I might have had. Photo attached. -No microwave in the room -Bathroom/shower was so small that it was hard to even move around in -All the ice machines were broken, so the staff gave me little ziploc bags of ice. It was a nice gesture, but I go through a lot of ice normally and I don't want to have to bother people every time. -The internet was terrible. For some reason Netflix worked perfectly fine, every other video service was blocked. Besides Netflix, every other website loaded very, very slowly. My VPN also wasn't working on their wifi, which is a security issue. I'm not sure if it was blocked, or if their internet was so slow it couldn't actually work. -The room itself was pretty small for the price. You have to kind of navigate around the furniture to get from one side of the room to the other. -The bed was springy. The top was soft, but the whole thing felt like a giant cot. -No fitness center. Nothing said there was one, but I would've expected one for the price. Especially since they charge a "resort fee" that just covers basic...

TRAVEL AGENT: Stay dates Dec. 13th-16th

This has been thee most lack luster experience I've had in a very long time about a hotel. I checked into The Equus on Thursday Dec. 13th after 5pm. The very first incident that knocked the wind out of my sails was the $30 a day parking fee you're charged to park your car. I had my rental car for 3 days so that's $100 just for parking! Wasn't too happy about that but hey I already had the rental and since there is no available free parking what was I to do?! Also they make you leave your car keys at the front desk so they can move your car at will, I wasn't ok with that at all! BATHROOM » The next thing is the room I stayed in was on the 6th floor in the corner. Now I don't know if housekeeping never got around to cleaning the room or what but there were visible signs that it hadn't been. There was feces left in the toilet...disgusting and there was hair on the toilet seat. Thank goodness I carry my own Lysol and sprayed everything down before I used it. DUST » Then there's the dust situation. There was so much dust in my room it was sickening. Dust inside the lamps on both nightstands beside the bed, dust on the base boards of the walls, the sliding doors covering the patio, the air vent in the bathroom, along the top of the backsplash in the bathroom....just gross! The carpet in the room had terrible stains in it and you could tell it hadn't been cleaned in forever. THE BED » although my bed was soft there was no blanket on the bed. I realize that this is Hawaii and it gets hot but if I turn on the AC and get cold what do I cover up with? At the very least provide a duvet...there was just a sheet and skimpy pillows. I ended up using my blanket that I brought with me to use on the plane instead...ridiculous! Also everything that I'd noticed about the room, up until this point, had me skeptical about sleeping on the bed. This place gave me the heebie-jeebies and I'll never stay here again nor would I recommend anyone stay...

Had to change rooms 2 times. In the first room the floors were very dirty. AC unit didn't cool good. Front desk guy said it was on a Eco-friendly unit and it wouldn't get cold. Bed post was broken. I had to show him so I wouldn't be charged. Moved to another room the next day. Floor was still dirty. WEAR SHOE IF YOU STAY HERE. Ac unit didn't work in this room either. It was cooler out side then in our room. We had to move to another room again. That's packing up again to move ya'll. They didn't even offer us anything. I had this trip paid for before we ever got there. But I was still charged a resort fee. They didn't even knock any off of it. We even asked for a refund so we could go to another hotel down the street was told he would have to ask but probably not. we also had our excursion planned with the pick up at that hotel. Pool was dirty. It looked like black water not blue clear water. The only Good thing about this hotel is you can walk to near by place. But you can stay at the hotel across the street or down the street and do the same thing. I have always dreamed about going to Hawaii. I didn't let this NASTY, DIRTY non AC working room hinder that. I just want to help other people from...

Guest service was super helpful and sweet even with our late arrival and many questions. ( Also next day immediately helped change out our broken coffee maker!) Loved the quaint atmosphere and the equine attire attitude everywhere!! This was a huge factor staying here with my love of horses and Polo. I can definitely see the owners passion and admiration of horses. I'm usually bothered by traffic noises but overlooked this side since I loved seeing beautiful horses everywhere. The end units have better views so another reason to ignore the traffic. Great location for ala Moana mall. Shopped all day!! Picture included my Uber driving up on sidewalk for pick up!

A very comfortable, family feel hotel where you can actually get to know the staff. This hotel is the last family owned hotel in Waikiki and they sure do make you feel like part of the family. Have coffee and breakfast at Da Hi Brew in the morning, come back in the evening for a drink and live music at the Paniolo Bar. After a long day out sightseeing it shopping, it's nice to come back and hang out, chat and listen to music before going back to your room to settle in for the night. I highly recommend supporting this family owned hotel, as you will not get the same warm, cozy feeling at the larger chain hotels in Waikiki.
