I was looking for an omakase sushi place and this was the only place that was open till later in the night and I am glad I visited this restaurant. I had to call them to make a reservation because they don't do online reservation. When I arrived, I was seated right away at the bar. They have 2 different options for Omakase- 1. Nigiri omakase 2. Sashimi omakase. I picked the nigiri omakase. This omakase was different than the ones I've been to in the past. For this Omakase, there is no set menu. You basically pick between the 2 options, and you keep getting served until you are full. So basically you have to tell them when you are done and then they charge you for whatever you ate. Two other things to note here are that - 1. You can tell your server to kindly include any particular nigiri options that you want as part of your omakase experience. 2. This omakase includes some exotic Japanese fish. The cost of each nigiri is based on the market price, and it is usually around $7/piece. I got to try following nigiri as part of my omakase experience - Seasonal fish × 5 Shima aji Hirame Ika Mirugai Hoy scallop mayo Kani Uni Ikura Unagi Kinmedai Mutsu Anago Crab

Every nigiri that I tried was fresh, tender, flavorful, and had a clean taste. Some of the nigiri were seared and some were slightly salted, and they didn't require any ponzu sauce. Some of their nigri had more wasabi than what I usually like, but it was still really good. Each nigiri came with a generous cut of the fish. Even the ginger on the side was very flavorful, with a good balance of sweet and slightly tangy flavors. My favorites were uni, unagi, eel, hirame, and scallop mayo. I would definitely come back next time I...

Came here for a dinner date with my hubs, sitting at the counter. We didn’t do omakase as there isn’t officially one like some other restaurants. It’s pretty much you sit down and the chef would serve you sushi until you say stop, and our server said it’s roughly about $10 a piece. Since it’s our first time here, and they have an extensive menu, we decided to go for the assorted sushi with maki plate to try it out first before we potentially commit to an omakase next time.

We had about 10 pieces of nigiri and 10 pieces of tuna maki. Thats a lot of food for the price actually! (Lots of rice) the nigiri that stood out to us was the ika, eel, akami, hamachi, botan shrimp. The ika was not chewy at all. So smooth and a pleasant. And omg we both normally don’t like eel but that piece was perfectly charred with slight crisps on the edge! It might be the best eel nigiri I’ve had. Their akami was really fresh, even though it’s not my favorite. Hamachi and botan shrimp was of good quality as well!

Some disappointments though - Chutoro was a tad bit stringy, and the salmon was close to abysmal. It didn’t taste fatty or fresh at all. Not good quality.

We also got some small apps before our sushi plate. The deep fried baby octopus could’ve been better. It’s on the chewy side. Baby octopus is a hit or miss really. When it’s good it’s really good. I love how they had ankimo. The sauce and the shredded daikon and shiso leaf went really well together. I devoured the whole plate.

Overall it’s a pleasant meal and we had a great evening. Not everyone sat at the bar. Groups were sitting at tables.

Parking gets better when you go inside the lot, away from the narrow lane of the entrance/exit of the lot. We got free validation from...

Every time I come to Oahu for work for the past 10 years, this is my mandatory stop. Some of the BEST sushi on the island, especially compared to an even more pricey sushi restaurant people had recommended to me located near Honolulu airport.

The location is so deceiving of the caliber of food you get. This place should be larger and ocean side for the ambience to match what your tastebuds experience! The actual location is near a Walmart and Ross in a rundown, alley strip mall. It's extremely small and the "decor" with a drink refrigerator in the restaurant and buckets on the floor are deceptive. Luckily, the high quality of food and experienced waitstaff transcend the subpar surroundings.

This is not a sushi restaurant where you get edamame or seaweed salad; but they do give you packaged finger cloth towels that not only clean your hands, but leave them soft! I digress. Back to the food.

Each sashimi we ordered was deliciously cut and would just melt in your mouth. I am embarrassed when I have to say I can only eat fish with scales and cannot eat shellfish, which is nearly ridiculous at a sushi restaurant, but they completely were cool and offered their seasonal fish in that category and all selections were AMAZING!

The corn on the cob dish seemed like an odd menu item, but glad it was on there as it was absolutely delish. And they even made an avocado maki for attending kiddos that was so good, we ordered a roll just for the adults!

If you love sushi, you ii must try this...

Sushi II remains a beacon of culinary excellence, where the fish and shellfish truly stand in the spotlight, celebrated for their intrinsic flavors. Every visit reaffirms why this place is a must for anyone who appreciates the art of sushi. Tonight, the offerings were nothing short of spectacular. From the briny sweetness of mirugai (horse clam) to the delicate succulence of abalone, the rich umami of anago, and the unparalleled creaminess of uni, each dish was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality and freshness. Here, it's not about masking the seafood with heavy sauces or unnecessary embellishments; it's about allowing the high-grade fish to shine, presenting it in a way that highlights its natural flavors and textures. Sushi II is a sanctuary for seafood purists, where every bite is a celebration of the sea's bounty, untainted and unadorned. I urge you to make a reservation and immerse yourself in this extraordinary dining experience. Whether you're a newcomer to the world of sushi or a connoisseur, you'll find something here that speaks to your palate, offering a genuine taste of what premium sushi is all about.
