I discovered malasadas on my recent trip to Oahu and instantly fell in love with them. When I saw the malasadas truck in the Polynesian Cultural Center parking lot, I couldn't resist! They had 3 flavors of filling to choose from, with different options for sugar as well. I ordered the sugar coated, coconut cream filled one and it was fantastic. Did it get my fingers, myself, my face, and the picnic table completely sticky and messy? Yes! Did I mind? Absolutely not! It is all part of the experience! If you want a clean dessert, you shouldn't be eating a malasada. The girl working the counter was pleasant and polite and let us know how long it would take (5 mins for one, not bad!) and chatted with us while we waited. It came out fresh and hot and was absolutely delicious. If anyone is looking for the best malasadas in Hawaii,...
Read moreI've been wanting to try a malasada for a while and found this location on Yelp. I stayed in Waikiki, and it was a 5 min walk from where I was at. I ordered a cinnamon, Nutella & strawberry cream malasada--the first bite of the strawberry cream melted in my mouth. Before I knew it, 10 seconds had passed, and the first one was gone. They were delicious! I ate all three and ended up ordering another 3. It's located in the mall at Waikiki in the food court. These were made-to-order malasada and were done within 15 mins which was fast since they were swamped the day I went. I tried Leonard's bakery malasada and waited an hour later that day since people said they had the best. In my honest opinion, penny malasada tasted way better than Leonard's, and you didn't have to wait too long for them. Check this location out if you're...

We got the coconut, adzuki, and ube creams. They came out super fresh and hot, and really delicious. The filling gets a bit runny so have napkins but it's so worth it! The coffee was also surprisingly good - get the vanilla mac. Probably one of the most affordable things in Waikiki, without sacrificing quality.
The food court has plenty of seating and is open air so it was a pretty nice place to sit and enjoy.
Service was also really great - we had a good conversation with the guy running the counter. Definitely...
