Generally, I really love Tipsy Pig. The white-haired staff are awesome and love dogs, and the food is excellent. Unlike at other karaoke places, you do not rent the room but instead put a dollar in the machine every time you want to sing a song, so it's good for people who like to take breaks or talk story between songs instead of feeling like you have to sing constantly to get your money's worth for the room. Two caveats: the machine has this annoying whistling piccolo-like sound that tells you what melody to sing, and there's no way to turn it off. I want to hear my voice singing the melody, not some whistling robot. Also, the black-haired guy with the tattoos is a terrible waiter: he forgot what we asked for and then insisted we never asked for it, only deigning to apologize after he found our order sitting on the counter in the kitchen area. Plus, he called me ma'am, and I'm clearly a gorgeous young hottie in a pretty dress, not an old aunty in an apron. Even my friend was shocked. Dude needs to learn some manners from his white-haired colleagues! Otherwise, much love for Tipsy Pig. We will be...
Read moreThey kicked us out before they closed so we lost out on our last credits then charged us for drinks we did not get. The server passive aggressively told my friends and I (that were coming from the bathroom) that he already told my friends (in the room) that we had 5 minutes left. Nope! By the time we left we noticed that we actually had 5 minutes left before closing- meaning they kicked us out early and wasted our credits because they wanted us gone sooner. If you've never been there, navigating through their system can be confusing and we had to flag down an employee. I didn't expect the red carpet treatment but I couldn't even get the bare minimum.
Edit: Did not know about the hard 12am rule in Hawaii, maybe if we were warned then this wouldn't have been an issue. Nice to see that the owner called us selfish on my Yelp review. I noticed that the owner will leave snippy replies if there are less than stellar reviews so at least he...
Read moreAn okay bar with a karaoke room. We recently came here for a friend’s birthday party. They reserved the karaoke room, which is a decent sized area, with poor ventilation. The small rotating fan just didn’t cut it when there were twenty people in the room. To participate in karaoke you have to pay for songs. The machine is cash only. From there, you download an app and get the numbers of the songs you wish to sing and manually punch in the numbers. Sometimes the numbers don’t match the song either, kinda frustrating. The food is good, we had mostly pub fare. As for the drinks, my wife had two lava flow drinks and said they were very “light pours.” She rarely drinks and hardly had a buzz. The staff that worked with us were all very attentive and friendly. Aside from attending a birthday party, I can’t say I’d patronize this bar, but it is an okay place with room for...
