06/09/21 @ 5:30pm ONOLICIOUS kaukau... First Time for Indian Food The Place: The restaurant wasn't to bad to find with the help of google maps. Parking was a little difficult to find, but we called and they were so helpful in directing us. Be aware that if you have a large vehicle parking is tight and shared with other businesses, so try to use a smaller vehicle. Luckily we came when it wasn't as busy or our Ram 1500 wouldn't have fit. The restaurant was a little small, but it had an intimate feeling and it was super clean. The tables were set up far away from each other for social distancing and each table had it's own sanitizer. The Service: Superb! The gentleman who sat us and took our order was just amazing. He was so patient and friendly. He answered all our questions and recommended a lot of what we decided to purchase. Come to find out, my friends wife works there and she was so awesome. They constantly came to check on us and refill our waters. My friends wife even made sure we had some desert before heading out...even if we were so full. TY Maskey! The Food: I'm a Bollywood fanatic...I watch Indian movies all the time and I've been waiting to find a place to taste all the wonderful food I see in those movies. After months of research...I finally found Spice Up based on reviews. Talk about flavors and not being able to breath because you don't want to take a moment to catch some air before shoving the next spoonful down your throat. Yup...that was me and my husband. Words can't explain how delicious every thing tasted. Our order: Samosa(Veg) $6.95 Chicken Tikka Masala with white rice $16.99 Lemon Fried Rice $7.99 Chana Masala $14.95 Rack of Lamb (medium well) $31.99 Garlic Cheese Naan $5.95 Rasmalai (2 pieces on the house) TY Maskey! Chai Tea $2.95 Everything was suppah ono. We didn't take pictures of the Samosa(Veg) or the Rasmalai. In Summary: Tonight we lost our virginity to Indian Food and we are glad it was by Spice Up. My husband and I agree...hands down this has been the most delicious food we ever ate on date night. Although we live 28 miles away, we plan to make a monthly date night at Spice up till we have tried everything. We wish these guys a long prosperous life!

Of all the Indian restaurants we tried in Honolulu, this is our family’s favorite for both food and service. The biggest advantage of this restaurant is that they have parking at the back, so there's no need to search for street parking. The service is exceptional. We arrived around 8:10 and placed our order. The waiter kindly informed us that the kitchen was closing soon, but still accommodated our order. The best part was when, after 8:30, my 5-year-old took some time to finish her food; when I apologized to the waiter, she kindly said, 'No problem, take your time.' That’s the kind of service we all appreciate. The garlic naan and paneer curry were delicious. The veg kurma was also good. However, the portion size of the gobi was small and it had a strong ketchup flavor. The kofta in malai kofta gravy was slightly dry and didn't absorb much flavor, but the gravy was tasty

Spice up is a cozy spot, we got there at 5 when it opened as they don't take reservations and we heard they definitely get busy. The staff promptly checked our vax cards and IDs and our group of 5 was seated right away. It had a very homey feel, the lines were a heavy material that you would have used in the old days so you could smell the old world charm haha. The decor was indian charm as well. The menu had just the right amount to choose from as well. The staff was masked up and safe and took our order fairly quick, our food came out within reason and looked and smelled delicious. Really the one and only compliant was my med rare lamb was a little over cooked but not destroyed. Oh yeah and the lamb cubes were a bit big and with the butter knife they give you it was hard to cut but other than that everyone had a good meal. We would definitely visit again.

I've been here twice now and it has been fantastic both times. The food was delicious, plentiful enough to have leftovers, and very reasonably priced, especially in Hawaii. I will note it is a small physical space, and it is always busy with in-person patrons and to-go/door dash orders- that's how good it is! So come prepared to be patient if it's busy, but the staff is always friendly and they do an excellent job of managing even during busy hours. I have tried a few different entree dishes so far and have not been disappointed at all - in fact, I have been known to wake up in the middle of the night just to sneak a little leftover naan to dip in the leftover sauces. Make sure you save room for dessert, the gulab jamun was the perfect finish to the meal.

This is my second time dining at Spice Up. Both times were good experience. There's a lot of selection on the menu with descriptions on what the dishes are. I don't actually remember what we ordered the last time except that we really love the garlic Naan. This time I wanted to try the mulligatawny soup and I really enjoyed it with the papadum. We also ordered lamb curry, lamb boti kebab and garlic cheese Naan. The lamb curry was spicy but taste great, the spiciness made it more appetizing. The naan was really good again. Just a little bit disappointed with the kebab, there was hardly any taste but good thing they gave 2 different chutney and that made it better. Overall we were very full and satisfied. Definitely coming back again.

Spice Up restaurant was popping Friday night. With a limited seating inside, there were about 12 people outside waiting for a table. It seemed to me that majority of the people eating at the restaurant were locals. They don’t take reservations but they will take your name once you arrive. There is a limited parking in the back of the building. The menu was on the pricier side and portions were on the smaller side then at a lot of restaurants on the mainland. We received one small bowl of rice that was not even filled to the top for 4 people which like I said is on a smaller side compared to the restaurants that I’ve frequented. Their medium is very spicy, so heads up when choosing spice levels. The food on the other hand was delicious.
