I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received at your Wolfgang Steak Restaurant in Hawaii last Friday. My friend and I visited your restaurant and unfortunately encountered the worst waitress I have ever come across in my life. Her service was so terrible that it completely ruined my mood and my dining experience.
Firstly, the waitress carelessly threw the serving plate onto our table without any regard for our safety. When we asked for salt and pepper, she didn't bring them to us, and we had to ask another waiter to bring them. At the end of our meal, she gave us the wrong bill, and when we pointed out the mistake, she only gave us a short and insincere apology by saying "sorry." This behavior was unacceptable and left us feeling extremely dissatisfied with the service we received. And when we were presented with the bill, she insisted that we choose the tip amount right then and there, which was a very uncomfortable experience for us. When I complained about her behavior to another waiter, he made a comment about Japanese customers, implying that they may not tip properly. This was completely inappropriate and made me feel very uncomfortable, especially since my friend and I are not Japanese. Furthermore, I have asked people living in Hawaii, and they have confirmed that they have never encountered such terrible service at your restaurant before. I believe that the waitress and the waiter who defended her behavior need to be given service training again. I have also read reviews online that suggest there are unfriendly waitresses at your restaurant who cater specifically to the Korean community. I believe that this may be the same waitress who served me, and I hope that you do not forget that not only Japanese but also many Koreans are customers of Wolfgang Steak.
Despite the terrible service we received, I still gave her a certain amount of tips. However, I strongly believe that this waitress needs to be retrained and made aware of the importance of providing quality customer service. Overall, my experience at your restaurant was terrible, and I do not wish to experience this kind of service again. I hope that you take my complaint seriously and take the necessary steps to improve the quality of...
Read moreWe arrived at 7:15pm on a Sunday (on Memorial Day weekend) without a reservation, and got seated immediately.
ATMOSPHERE: Located on the 3rd level of the Royal Hawaiian Center. Nicely decorated interior, nothing fancy. Didn't notice any other seating styles besides regular tables. There's two sections to dine in, the first section is near the front door with an average height ceiling with views of the mall and wine cellar, and the second section is towards the back with a high, vaulted glass ceiling with views of Kalakaua Ave and the interior of the mall. Music was top 10 but suddenly stopped halfway through dinner.
FOOD: Combo Appetizer Consisted of lump crab in a lettuce leaf, shrimp cocktail, and half a cold lobster tail with cocktail sauce for dipping. Seafood was fresh but the lobster tail was a little rubbery.
Wolfgang Salad I'd pass on this. It's a wedge salad with iceberg lettuce, topped with too many tomatoes, fresh green beans, real bacon bits, and onions. The dressing had a light taste as to render it very bland and boring.
Steak For Three It's a porterhouse steak, which we got medium rare, and is a touch of red in the center. It was cooked perfect and had tons of taste. Salty & buttery goodness. The three of us finished the whole thing!
Lobster mMac & Cheese I had to try this as the reviews seemed phenomenal. It was good but they use the meat from the lobster claw which isn't as flavorful as the tail. Good but not great.
Spinach I have no idea why our friend ordered this because even he hardly ate it. Its good but I'm not a huge fan of spinach.
Baked Potato Its huge! Big enough for three people. We actually left a small portion behind because we were stuffed.
SERVICE: Everyone was great. Our male server was very personable and attentive.
OVERALL: Pricey, but worth it. The portions of the side dishes are big enough for 3 to share. Avoid the...
Read moreChad was taking our order and we infuriated him so much by asking how the steak for two could be prepared if each person wanted their steak prepared differently. He proceeded to roll his eyes and said “c’mon guys I’ve been here since 6am. My patients is very thin…..” we laughed because we thought he was joking and as I paid closer attention to his body language I realize he was not joking. He made us very uncomfortable at that point and said he didn’t have time for this and left our table. We somehow were the only customers Chad lacked the patience for as we watched him serve the other tables around us with incredible customer service, we heard him explain the menu to the other tables, make jokes, and carry on with small talk at another table. The worst part is that he never apologized for his behavior towards us. My husband took me and his mom to dinner to celebrate mothers day and the only thing I could concentrate on was how rude and unprofessional this server was. Not one manager approached us after we asked for a different server, to make sure we were ok.
I hate to think that Chad had a problem serving black people as that was the only difference between us and the other customers being waited on by Chad.
The food was delicious and the server Mike who took over after our incident with Chad was amazing but we will not be visiting this or any other Wolfgang restaurants. This employee’s behavior was unacceptable and the nonchalant attitude we received from management when we told them the situation was unremarkable.
I also sent an email and still nothing. If you’re black and insist on going to this restaurant make sure you aren’t sitting at any of Chad’s table, he may be having a tough day...
