This was my first time at this location. It was myself and family of two. The ambience is pleasant. I visited around 1pm last Saturday. It was not too crowded, there were a lot of customers seated. I thought it took a little while to get seated, there appeared to be some confusion or either the waitress were really busy. I ordered the food in the pictures, an ensemble of side dishes and main course came in about three waves. There was a lettuce salad with a reddish dressing with a June Plum flavor. Besides the meat, the portions were small, I received just one bowl of rice per person. Once the food was delivered to my table, the waitress was ghost, no one came to the table after the waitress turned on the stove device on the table and elected to cut up the raw meat to cook. The next time they came was to deliver the bill, no questions asked, I wanted a refill of water, I was given a large container of water, more or less fill your glass yourself. At this time it was around 2pm most people had already left, the place was quiet, so I was not sure if this was the custom here at this restaurant. It would have been nice if the water was dropped off at the beginning. In summary the food is good but the service was severely lacking. I think these folks ought to rethink their business model because they face greater competition from similar restaurants like Gen Korea BBQ House, where portions are greater, and the host tries to keep eye contact with you to ensure you rather, to see if you would like to order more food. The impression here was more like eat and get out. Despite this it is a good place to eat and would...
Read moreHad lunch here with family. I didn't get pictures of all the dishes with ordered. Just the hot stone pot bibimbap and all the sides. My family liked the mandoo soup, the miso one, and the purple rice one. We liked the combination plate too (it had bbq chicken, kalbi, and beef on a bed of onions on a hot plate).
The sides were not bad. Nothing stood out as good or bad. Kim cheese was fresh, instead of sour (my preference), salad was sweet, japchae was okay.
Restaurant is very cold. However, it was clean and had decent ventilation for people who wanted to cook. Ventilation is directly over each bbq area and is adjustable. Downside no matter what, your clothes will smell like bbq.
The servers were patient and helpful. They were attentive and for two people running around with the number of people in the restaurant. It went smoothly.
Note: The only thing that bothered me was the price of the lunch specials. Hot stone pot bibimbap cost difference between lunch and dinner was only $2.00. Looking online, size and content in both are the same. Lol apparently few other dishes were similar...so I suggest coming at lunch time, instead of dinner. You'll save a...
Read moreHonestly this wasn't my first choice to go to but a colleague of mine wanted to eat there for lunch so we went. Typically I weigh a lot of my experience on being able to get drink. In my case that's iced tea green tea or bitter melon tea. Almost every drink there is served out of a can. Very disappointing. I don't know what they're trying to accomplish perhaps it's an old style normal style Korean restaurant but I was disappointed. You see the images of the food that we cooked and there was okay. Service was average. You had to flag down for everything. It wasn't that busy. Total for two people on the items we picked was $78 plus tips around $92. I would imagine I'd expect more for that but that just me. High noon or 1:00 is not a good time to go because the sun is glaring through those windows and many people asked to be moved. Give it a try see what you think. I think the one in Ala Moana a lot brighter a lot cleaner looking but that's...
