Nestled next to gourmet liquors this place offers seating for dining in and a few seats for waiting for take out. The food here is not disappointing and the portions are what you would expect for the price. Good place for a solid plate lunch.
Pros: $7 will get you a large entree, 2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. Vegetables and brown rice available. If you wish to sit down and eat, you can do so at any of the 7 tables provided and on a warm summer day the A/C in this location will provide ample refuge.
Cons: Location is dusty and the place does not look like a health inspector has stepped in the door in at least 6 months to a year. I am sure they clean the kitchen at some point during the night but I checked out the floor and dropped a book of matches behind the table closest to the door. Guess what? The book of matches are still there as of the writing of this review.
Customer service is sorely lacking in this place. I suppose for $7 I should not have high expectations, but it bears repeating. Do not expected to be greeted when you walk through the door. You can stand for 5-8 min before anyone will acknowledge your presence.
Overall-I live near this location so it is a place I go too often despite the poor customer service and the less then stellar cleaning. If you are in the neighborhood and need a quick lunch plate, this...
Read moreOur last night in Oahu ordered the BBQ Mix Plate and House Fried Noodles. I ate most of the mix plate and the wife ate most of the noodles with one piece of meat from the mix plate and left some for leftovers in the morning. It all tasted good, but I had the unfortunate episode of getting food poisoning from one of the meat items, Mac salad, or rice. I was up late at night multiple times if you get my drift. We didn't eat much that day except for pastries and some snacks so it could not have been those and my stomach is sensitive when the food is spoiled. The wife was ok. I wanted to support the local eateries, but this is the 2nd place this week that I got food poisoning from one of the local eateries. Unfortunately, we will not be visiting any local eateries anymore, except the well...
Read moreHad a combo of my two choices, lemon chicken and garlic pork chop. I expected chicken pieces covered in thick sauce but it was only dried fried chicken pieces with lemon sauce in a separated small container. Sauce is very artificially flavoured with strange after taste and there were hardly big pieces of chicken. Mostly small and hard pieces or skin. A few of chunks were even just coating like starch or mochiko. I couldn't possibly use provided plastic fork because chicken pieces were so hard and dry. I just dipped them in the sauce with fingers. Pork chop was a bit better story. They came with Mac salad, coleslaw and big amount of rice. Yes, it really made me full. Even took a lot of the rest home and it costs 10.99. Just amount was good. Oh and the Mac salad was...
