Yours Truly is NOT a safe or comfortable place for a cocktail.
This review is a warning, friends. Upon arrival, we were met with rudeness from the initial bartender, who scowled the whole time and refused to let me cash out my tab before going back to the speakeasy. His unpleasant demeanor made us feel unwelcome. His bitterness was unwarranted and palpable to the point I felt uncomfortable.
When we tried to access the Christmas speakeasy, we encountered more issues. The bartender was unhelpful, repeatedly telling us to "follow the security camera" as if that meant anything. I assure you it does not and it was weird and uncomfortable that he kept saying that instead of assisting us. He also refused to split our tab, despite assuring us it could be done.
After I questioned why the whole charge went on my friend's card, a second bartender was alarmingly rude and unapologetic as he tried to gaslight me. He wasnât there, how can he tell me what was said? It felt like it was oddly personal but we never met either of them before which leads me to believe they have issues and are potentially discriminatory.
When dropping fifty bucks on 2 drinks, I have no interest in being inconvenienced with extra steps like Venmo. That is a reasonable expectation, wouldnât you agree? To be fair, I skipped the tip so I saved ten bucks. Never have I ever done that before, but the service was borderline traumatizing and negative behavior has negative consequences.
It felt like they were deliberately making our experience negative. Many reviewers share similar experiences, indicating a concerning pattern of poor service and aggression from the bartenders. The owners need to address this issue seriously. A simple apology for the mix-up could have changed our experience, but instead, we left feeling disturbed and disrespected. Please consider avoiding this place until changes are made.
Friends, this is a rare negative review on Google because I value small businesses and the success of downtownâs revival is important to me. I donât like to put out negative vibes, so I prefer to leave good reviews on places I truly enjoyed- check my recs for a fun night. Spend wisely, I say this out of love- this place ain't it, ladies. Almost 1 out of 3 reviewers' alarming comments echo our experience, which indicates a concerning pattern that continues to be ignored.
I hope this place considers serious changes and friends, please heed my warnings because I donât play. I assure you, I would not be writing this if I didnât feel this strongly- this bar is problematic. Itâs new, and I want it to succeed. Truly. Itâs supposedly owned by a woman and I hope whoever she is doesnât let these mean men ruin what she worked so hard to create. Hopefully, theyâll rethink their training and hiring practices and add security. In this era, we need to protect women, all women, and all friends and allies of the entire inclusive community.
Friends- stay alert, stay aware, and stay safe. Speak with your wallet; your...
Read moreI have been an active regular at Yours Truly for months and since last year whenever my job sends me to Hawaii. From the speakeasy to the bar I have fallen in love with the bartenders and I have brought friends and visiting family to come enjoy drinks and meet Olivia and Derek.
Recently, Derek left the bar and while it was disappointing Olivia has managed the bar so well she makes my friends and I always feel special and goes the extra mile with memorizing the drinks and giving amazing recommendations. I have made amazing business contacts from talking to others who were recommended or told to come and see Olivia. On my last visit, I was briefly told that Olivia will be leaving soon and while meeting the new bartender and server and their energy is amazing and brilliant it blends perfectly with Olivia and I hope her the best as well as the bar as she was the true light and originality in the...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place â the vibe was awesome, and the atmosphere was great. But honestly, the experience was completely ruined by the dude with the dreads (I think his name was Jarel?). He was super rude to several people, and his comments under his breath were just⌠gross. It got even worse when he made some really uncomfortable remarks to the other female bartender, which created this awful tension that totally killed the vibe. I donât know what his deal was, but it felt unprofessional and kind of disrespectful. I really wouldnât go back if he's working, which is a shame because the place had potential. Definitely wouldnât recommend it when...
