I'm biased cuz I work there now, but I work there cuz when we moved here years ago, it quickly became our favorite spot for lunch after a morning hike, or grabbing drinks before walking down to the river, or just enjoying a casual & delicious dinner with the sunset.
Outside downtown HR, the outdoor seating is 6-8 wooden tables, covered for year-round dog-friendly shelter & hosts a beautiful view of the WA side of the Gorge. Fire tables & deck heaters keep you warm, but there's also seat pillows & heavy blankets available for extra cold days; we've sat out there with snow on the ground & not been uncomfortable! The 4-5 indoor tables are cozy, with the interior being fairly open from bar to cidery to kitchen & you're sure to make friends in the overlapping conversations.
Crush contracts with a local Michoacán kitchen & everything down to the tortillas & sauces are all made in-house. The menu has a unique blend of swiss-inspired & Michoacan dishes, & I haven't tried a single item that wasn't downright scrumptious. They have specials every weekend; right now its Pozole & we're going back down for a Sunday lunch, even though I ate an entire adobada flatbread on Friday (the green sauce goes on EVERYTHING).
Again, I'm biased but with good reason because Crush has the best cider around, delicious food, great ambience & environment, & at the end of the month it'll even begin hosting FREE poker nights!
If you come down & see a bearded dude with a man bun wearing a Blazers shirt, feel free...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our recent visit in! It was PERFECT for a rainy day in Hood River. The outdoor seating area is a heavy-duty tented setting, with firepits and warming rocks and we were cozy as can be outside watching the rain and sipping cider.
This place is family-friendly and has warm N/A apple cider or a cold slushie for the kiddo-s and kombucha options.for non-cider/beer enthusiasts.
We didnt eat here, but many people were, and the food looked and smelled wonderful.
James and Sam were fantastic. Both were super hospitable and friendly and were working their tails off making sure they answered all questions, poured 'em up quick and kept the place tidy and humming.
Ciders overall were quite delicious! I sampled their dry options almost exclusively (as that is the style I like the most), and they all were quite lovely. Some of the more experimental options werent to my liking (the Margarita was too heavy with pepper profile & the pear cider had a strange after taste to me), but the other 4 of my 6 tasters knocked it out of the park.
Great experience! Also a great option for rainy days, Sundays, and if you have...
Read moreProbably our favorite cider spot in Hood River. We try to make sure we stop in every time we're out this way. They've created a wonderful outdoor seating area with fire pit area that give just enough heat to keep you comfortable. The service is wonderful and part of what keeps us coming back....aside from the great rotation and standards in their cider options. With covid, they've flexed with every obstacle thrown at restaurant businesses and, I think, done well with the difficult year we've all experienced. We love the Jamaica cider and always come away with cans or growlers but we enjoy sampling their seasonal rotations too. For anyone who likes the heat, they have one of the most surprising habanero ciders we've encountered so far. The food has been amazing, as well. Everything we've tried, especially the street tacos... and everything we've seen coming out around us has been impressive. We've heard nothing but raves about their chili and it's on our To Do list next time we're...
