Drove by this spot last night and thought it looked like a cute place to try for breakfast. When we walked in, we were greeted and seated fairly quickly. Someone asked if we wanted something to drink and we asked for two waters. After about 10 minutes, we were still waiting for both the waters and menus, so we had to ask again.

Someone asked if we wanted something to drink, and we asked for two waters. After sitting for about 10 minutes without menus or water, we had to ask again. Eventually, the waters came and the server took our drink order — an iced tea and a cappuccino — which also took a while to arrive.

We finally placed our food order, but the dishes came out at different times. I get that it was a busy morning, but a little communication from the server would have made a difference.

As for the avocado — my friend had ordered it with her toast, but when the food was brought out, they placed it on my plate without saying anything. I assumed it was just a garnish. It wasn’t until my friend asked about her avocado that they mentioned it had been placed on my plate. Turns out that small slice cost $3, and it wasn’t even half an avocado. That felt a bit off, especially since there was no explanation upfront.

I had a job in Hood River and was excited to try breakfast at a local cafe. I was really looking forward to trying Egg River Cafe due to all the great reviews. Sadly my experience was anything but great. I knew it was going to be busy since it was Sat, even at 8 AM it was already packed. I didn't mind the wait as I was expecting it. However when my food arrived, I noticed it was a bit cold and the scramble did not look very appealing. I had ordered the Brie, basil, white egg scramble, hashbrowns, and wheat toast. It sounded delicious but when delivered looked sloppy, like it had been carelessly plopped on the plate. I decided to dive in none the less. I was immediately hit by a cold salty bomb of gelatinous brie mixed with runny eggs. I tried to counter the saltiness with pepper. There were warm spots in the scramble but it is not something I would ever order again. Nor could I suggest others to order this at $16+. The hash browns and toast were average. Overall there were no standouts on the dish at all and not worth the price. The one highlight was they had raw sugar for the coffee. Unfortunately, my experience only got worse from there. I was able to pay quickly and get to my job. Shortly there after, I began to not feel well. Headache, nausea, and stomach upset. One particular waitress has given me a bad experience several times. The last time I went there will be mine and several others very last time going. This waitress picks and chooses which days to be nice and to give good customer service. Ive been going there for the last two years almost at least once a week or twice a week sometimes because it's about two doors up from my house. Even had good conversations with her on a few of the days, otherwise she is completely rude to us and ive visualized her giving other customers horrible customer service. Every time I would go there I would hope that she wasnt my waitress, ive finally just grown tired of the hit or miss of my money being put to something worth it. Neither I or my family will be going there again. I almost left after getting our coffee because she was making it hard to sit there and pay for that kind of service. The other waitresses and the owners are super nice and make the experience great. But this waitress made the experience very uncomfortable and its not okay to spend my money and get that kind of service. I do not recomend going there, at least if you go to betties, if you give a nice attitude and say please and thankyou they are positively responsive. Ive worked in food and beverage for 5 years, i know how you are supposed to behave so i have no clue why this person still works there if she just wants to have a bad attitude and make peoples money...
