I will admit I expected this place to be not as good as it was. I have a little bit of a bias against larger brewery restaurants. They tend to focus heavy on the beer and light on the food.
The space isn't anything all that impressive but it is decorated nicely and simply with clean modern aesthetic and has a good view of the gorge. They could have certainly designed the space to have a more 180 view but it's a full glass northern exposure at the very least. A nice outdoor seating area but mostly closed in by the building.
The beer selection is obviously impressive and the servers' knowledge is good. They are well trained on what you need to know when working with a beer loving crowd. The menu isn't overwhelming but does have a nice and diverse selection of items. A little bit of everything. I went for the vegi burger and I will say it was delicious. A nice texture but definitely a knife and fork kinda meal. It's nice that they make it themselves and the side salad is simple and good fixings. Across the group we had the Salmon Fish n' Chips, and some sampling of different sides. The fries are amazing. The Fish n' Chips will make you want higher quality fish with every place you go, it makes a difference.
In the end this was an A-OK joint. During peak times they definitely do not have enough seating and being a main attraction in Hood River I think that is a bit limiting for them. If they could keep the menu rotating with seasonal goodness, someday expand and take better advantage of the view they have I think it could move to a 4 star and even...
Read moreAtmosphere. Smiles from servers. Great food. All those things beckon us back some day in future. Our trip to local museum worked up an appetite. A nice woman at the museum told us of three places, we chose this one.
It being between lunch rush and after work crowd, so we were able to get table by the window. Atmosphere included a photo mural of Mt Hood that covered the whole wall. Plank like wood made booth on one side with chair on other side of table made with same nice wood. Classy style for a pub famous for a great brew. In the days before my gluten free path, I had a few IP Ale from this Full Sail brand. Nice taste.
On our way in I glanced around hoping to get glimpse of plates to gauge food portions. Seeing how large the burgers were my mate and I ordered one burger for him with fries while I ordered the pear, blue cheese and walnuts salad. Yum. I loved the taste so much I can still recall the creamy dressing in the lettuce with pears and candied walnuts... oh, my fella gave me a few bites of his awesome meal, beef and fries, hold the rest. I took some of the salad home for supper. It was great paired with other leftovers.
Part of what I liked was how nicely they handled our ordering only water instead of brews. He's driving us and I'm not partial to beer, besides our Starbucks drinks await us in the car. Our food order was delightful and we may...
Read moreI have silly ax disease so going to a bureau is normally not what I do however this brewery had no options whatsoever for anyone and they are vegetarian option was absolutely terrible they terrible to the alcohol that they grew their combo to drinks not very good the service was slow and I know it's a local staple but my experience was for the lighting is very bad it's bright it's dim outside and it's also bright inside they have no light coverings around the lighting it's bright bulbs the lights change from dark to light with the light outside and inside it's very uncomfortable there are 2T v's facing to windows outside. Geometry of the setup is negative and bad functions. If the food was very poor and overprised. The seating was tight and very uncomfortable due to covet they had no coverings everyone was too close they were not respectful for social distancing although they wore their masks no one cared. Call chief metal bar stools one next to the other short flat backed wooden wouldn't seating pews cues not comfortable trouble low ceilings high ceilings bad angles overall overall needs to be remodeled because it's over 35 years old it's just not a comfortable place to be inside especially...
