We have been back to this tasting room year after year because of Natalie. She has such a wonderful personality and made us feel so warm and welcomed, a vast contrast to when we were made to feel "out of place" at other tasting rooms and wineries. Not only was the wine AMAZING, Natalie was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history and harvest of the grapes. The first time I met Natalie, we came in during a time when the tasting room was not open yet. She welcomed us and made us feel so comfortable despite the many tasks she was juggling between pours. She was very attentive yet let us enjoy the atmosphere. While she poured, she used her skills to learn more about us and was able to determine our preferences. Needless to say, we walked away with lots of wine that day. Another time we came to Hood River, one of my friends had her golden retriever puppy with her and when we called ahead, Natalie saved a seat outside for us. Another wonderful experience in the books. I feel that the owner, Lonnie is so fortunate to have Natalie on his side. The Pines 1852 is an experience you do NOT want to miss...
Read moreWe had never heard of this winery, We traveled to Hood River on a weekend getaway, that being said we offered to pick up wine for a friend who was not able to make it due to the weather. We came in and was treated like second class citizens. I felt that as a business owner myself you never know who is rich or poor so if you treat everyone with the same class and dignity you would probably make every sale. Needless to say great wine, but the women representing your vineyard one is knowledgeable (Mary Ann ) but beaten down by her superior( Natalie) and the superior to think it’s only a job and could of cared less about whether we wanted to learn about the vineyard or not. With winter upon us treat everyone as if they were a new sale and you could be more successful. We won’t be back to the tasting room and will share our...
Read moreI've led wine tours in Oregon for a decade. Of all the tasting rooms in the state, I consider The Pines 1852 the best! For so many reasons--location, price, servers, ambience, amenities, music, not to mention the wines made from historic vines! Hidden at 4th and Oak, The Pines is the perfect place to begin or end a stroll along Hood River's adorable shop-lined main street. Flights are just $10--ownership believes in affordability so everyone can enjoy. Outside food is allowed, and the service couldn't be more friendly--especially Leigha and Jeffrey. A wonderful cool dark bar, a cute shaded garden space, with regular local musical performances. I'll leave it up to you to describe the wines and find out why it's called "1852". Tell them Adam's review...
