The negative reviews of this place are laughable. I come here multiple times a week and I wouldn’t do so if the bad reviews were actually based in reality. You won’t find bad reviews about the actual coffee, that’s because it’s fantastic. Great roasts, for whatever you need. I won’t go camping without their instant coffee sticks. The bad reviews are for customer service, and those reviews are wrong. If you walk in with a good attitude and a little bit of patience, they’ll be friendly and kind. Now if you walk in looking like the grinch and are just genuinely unpleasant to be around? I still watch the staff try their best, but it’s hard to please someone who’s going to be annoyed regardless. These guys and gals work at a coffee shop, they’ll make you a great cup off coffee regardless of how you treat them, but for the love of god you don’t need to give the person at the register a death-stare because you couldn’t find your keys this morning. The pastries are addicting, they don’t have them everyday, so don’t go there specifically for the pastries. If you really want them, they do get most of their pastries from the white salmon bakery across the river, so not only are the pastries bakery quality, but you can always go over there if they’re out. Atmosphere-wise, you have a lovely open layout, a very bright and modern color scheme, and beautiful two story tall windows giving a stunning view of Washington and the river. During the summer they also have outside seating too. All in all I can’t recommend this place more, this is one of the 3 shops I rotate for remote work and it will stay on that list as long as this review...
Read moreRevised 12/16/17: I'm not one to take freebies from business owners or managers based on reviews (as offered after my below review), so since I was back in the area I figured I would swing by again and try the espresso on my own. I'm pleased to say that it is MUCH improved from my last visit. The three blend was very smooth and the acidity was much more complimentary of a traditional shot of espresso. I was also surprised at the attention the barista gave to the design in my wife's foam considering it was to go and would just have a lid put on it. Much better experience than last time! The double espresso only filled up half an espresso mug and was the most acidic shot of espresso I've ever had. My fiancee even advised me not to finish it it was so acidic. The ham and gruyere croissant was the highlight of our stop, and even that wasn't heated all the way through with cheese melting out and cold ham inside. Maybe we just struck out on this visit as other reviewers seem to enjoy it, but that espresso was unbearable, and I'm a coffee glutton who will drink just about anything... Unfortunately I cannot recommend this as a good coffee roaster, as their espresso was...
Read moreHorrible, terrible service on the part of a weekend counter-person who left me standing at the counter as she continued to visit with a couple before me. After some time, the gentleman ahead of me pointed out to the young lady who was completely ignoring me that I "had some money" referring to the fact that a five dollar bill was in my hand. I think he was a bit chagrined that he and his partner were distracting the order of business. At least he was aware that I was a customer that should have been given service whereas the employee didn't seem to have a clue. Once she was made aware of my presence she took the two steps needed to face me and just looked at me, saying nothing. Not a word. It was as if I was a bother--How dare I interrupt her visiting. I should have walked out, but was on a mission for my wife to fetch her a soy latte. I don't think in all of my 71 years have I been treated so poorly as a customer, and I have had some pretty bad experiences over the years. This one tops them all. On a positive note, my wife...
