Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Hoover

I placed a takeout order.. once there I went inside and only about 3 tables had customers and one person was sitting at the bar... no one was at the pickup desk and I waiting for someone to come up. I stepped further inside and saw only people working in the kitchen. I finally got someone's attention that worked in the kitchen and she walked up and I stated that I had been standing there for about ten minutes. The lady walked over to a lady sitting with two others and she got up and came over asking can she help me.. we'll im sure she saw me standing in the large opening of the dining room looking around. I gave her my name and she said oh it just came out. That was a lie because after I didn't anyone when I walked in three takeout bags were already sitting there before I came into the place...so she lied right to my face. Then had the nerve to suggest a tip. The order was taken over the phone.. the kitchen staff prepared the food so what did the hostess do to get a tip? Take my credit card.. if this was a waitress serving me sitting down that's different because that's how they make their money... but to be ignored and had to wait for service for more than ten minutes is really great service... now I tip you for making me wait after I drove there to get it... EVERYTHING is not a tipping thing. Inside service great..but picking up at the drive thru and walk in pick up is a stretch... everyone wants a tip... ok.tip. someone should have been at their station when customers enter instead of sitting at a table talking with others. the parking lot was nearly empty so they were not busy. Heck someone could see their order and just walk right out the door...and never be noticed. Ribs were a little tough...the meat doesn't easily fall off the bone..this is my honest review of the ribs ..they need to cook a little longer and the side portions were really small. The greens had a lot of stems and stalks... we don't use that.. more stems than greens. Two pork sandwiches and rib plate right at...

So we had an order that we placed. 2 days ago, we called and updated our order. Nothing was done as promised. The update for the order was never even entered in to the system. Now. Our party started 10 mins ago and we don’t have all the food for our party and the restaurant doesn’t have the food to supply what we had ordered. So they are having to completely change our second order because someone failed to update our order in the system. This is beyond embarrassing. Now instead of being able to enjoy our holiday party. I’m stuck here waiting for the new order that isn’t even what we originally ordered. Please if you call and make a large order here. Make sure you get confirmation that they have the order. Then call 2 days before the event to make sure that your order is in and accurate. The management’s response to this situation is…….. Well let’s just say that there was much left to be desired. I seriously should have went with Rodney Scott’s. May have paid more. But I’d probably be enjoying my Holiday Party instead of sitting in a parking lot waiting on something that is more screwed up than my psych meds. And to top it off. Customer in the parking lot regailed me with his experience. Waiting for over an hour for a Togo order…....

They say when in Alabama do as an Alabamian right? Well, I relocated up here from Florida and really was not much into BBQ until a friend recommended I try this establishment so I did, and no I do as the Alabamians on the holidays!! Eat BBQ!! I have tried a few items on the menu, of course the freebies are the best thing there is and that is the CHEESY MUFFINS!! oh yum yum!! They also are generous with them!! The BBQ Brisket I have tried on the fatty side and lean side and prefer the lean myself as they can't really control how much fat I suppose, and I also tried the sandwich style against the dinner style and I would recommend the DINNER style as a preference. Not really the same taste for some reason on a roll. Another customer I sat next to advised me to try the all white meat chicken breast next time so I did. AND, that is MY favorite of all the items!! With the all white meat you get two huge breasts and two wings and believe me you will take one home for the next day lol....oh, and ask the wait staff for a couple extra of those cheesy muffins to go with it the next day!! I will return the next time I need to act like...
