We spent the afternoon in Hot Springs yesterday and much to our disappointment on a Saturday most big restaurants were closed or opening late in the afternoon or evening due to staff shortages. The Copper Penny was open and pretty full. As we sat there and observed there was only one waitress working the floor. This place is large enough that on a weekend there should be at least 3 waiters/waitresses on the floor. We ordered a burger, a Rueben with onion rings and a couple beers. We were starving but that was our own problem for not eating earlier in the day, so the wait was making us hangry lol, keeping in mind we are watching this waitress running around nonstop trying to take orders, keep up on drinks and trying to clear tables for new customers. I was really feeling sorry for her as I seen many people getting frustrated. Our food was delivered but the rueben wasn’t correct so we assumed it was someone else’s food. They took it back and then brought it back out saying it was our order, I let them know I had ordered onion rings and a Reuben. She apologized and said she would make it right. The manager brought out my Rueben and onion rings shortly after apologizing again, she made the mistake right with us. I would’ve ate the BLT they brought out but I was craving my order so much and I was willing to wait. The food was amazing and given the circumstances that these servers are working under the service was absolutely amazing as well. Please keep in mind when you’re out supporting small businesses during these trial times to be kind and patient. The workers who are working, many of them are working for two or more people. Thank you Amanda and Kristen for caring and working extremely hard!!! Keep up the great service and we will definitely be back when we are...
Read moreWe had a group of 6 that sat down and didn’t get our drink order for almost 10 minutes. We all ordered water. Another 10 minutes later the waiter returned to take our order. I ordered the Hellfire burger and wanted to confirm that it came with lettuce tomato and onion like the picture from the online menu showed because the description didn’t have it. The waiter said no it doesn’t. I said oh ok, this picture shows it so I wasn’t sure. He argued with me and said that’s the regular burger. I said this picture shows an onion ring and jalapeños so that’s why I thought it was the hellfire burger. He gave me a smug look and said that’s why you should look at the menu in house and not online and that must be an old photo. (The exact same photo is on the menu in the restaurant.) At this point I was starting to get annoyed and I asked if I could add those items added since they apparently didn’t come with. We were seated around 12:30pm and didn’t get our food until almost 1:20pm. I ordered fries instead of chips and they forgot to add them. When I asked the waiter he didn’t apologize, he simply said, “must have been an over site.” He later returned to the table and said “anything else missing?” In a sarcastic tone. They are obviously short on staff and need to do more training with their staff on proper customer communication and etiquette. The food was also subpar for the price. For a $15 burger plus $3 up charge for the cold fries I finally got; it wasn’t worth it. We were all finished eating for over 15 minutes before someone from our party had to flag down the waiter to get our check. I used to come here all the time when I lived in the area and usually when I come to visit. I don’t think we will be returning until they make improvements to staffing and...
Read moreTook my daughter there for her Birthday. For an appetizer we had the Irish nachos. We both aren’t fond of sauerkraut so we asked them to go light on it, which they did. Hey give you a generous portion with plenty of toppings. We weren’t fans. The corned beef was fine. The kettle chips were over cooked and tasted slightly burnt. When you think of nachos , you think of scooping toppings up easily with the chips. The slivers of cornbread weren’t easily scooped. It was messy and unpleasant. Perhaps cutting the corned beef more would help. She ordered the shepherd pie the meat and Veges tasted fine. But, the mashed potato’s were instant and very runny. They weren’t seasoned at all. The dish was bland. I was surprised that they would use instant potatoes on Irish food! Even so, instant potatos can be made to taste homemade with a little dash of this and that. But, these instant potatos just had water added. I had the fish and chips. The chips were just your frozen variety. The fish would have been perfect if they didn’t season it so much. Tasted like southern style fish instead of traditional fish and chips which usually just uses salt. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. Our waiter was a cute young kid. He made the mistake of asking me “How is everything tasting?” And I had to tell him the truth and assure him it wasn’t his fault! Hopefully, from now on he’ll ask people “Do you have everything you need?” Instead. My review would have been more enthusiastic if the mashed potatoes had been homemade and seasoned and the chips had been made from...
