We stayed at 1890 Williams House Inn for 5 nights. We were in the Carriage Chamber off the main house. It was a quaint little room with a spacious bathroom, and a two-person jetted tub as advertised. The stained windows in the bathroom added a unique touch to the room as did the antique furniture, the chaise lounger, and the gas fireplace. All added to making the room feel cozy and inviting.
This was our first time to Hot Springs, and we are pleased that we chose to stay there vs. one of the local hotels. The personal touch made the stay more memorable and enjoyable.
Per the owner's urging, we were able to explore the other rooms that were empty mid-week and saw that every one of them had eclectic and unique features that made us want to visit again and stay in them as well.
Lynda and the entire staff could not have been more accommodating and kind during our stay. We were treated to tasty and unique breakfast options each morning and enjoyed them all as we are adventurous foodies.
The spacious front porch and upper balcony all added to the uniqueness of the house. We even opted to have dinner delivered from a local restaurant and enjoyed it on the patio bistro table.
The entire stay was made all the more special with helpful suggestions by Lynda for things to see and excellent dinner spots in town. She took the time upon our arrival to give us a map that she marked with all the best eateries and hiking areas/attractions nearby. It was beneficial and made our weeklong stay more delightful because we had several options and ideas.
As we are accustomed to Japanese and European travel, we tend to walk most places. After reading earlier reviews that were concerned about the supposed sketchy neighborhood, we can attest to the fact that we never felt unsafe during our walks to and from Bathhouse Row and historic Central Street. We found the location to be ideal for most evening walks into town despite the rain we experienced one evening. The only time we felt the need to drive into town was after a spa massage, per Lynda’s suggestion of wanting to have a relaxing trip back to the B&B. She was right, we were glad we parked in the free garage and were able to drive back quickly given the hot weather that day. Overall no locations were too far to walk to and from the house. It was an excellent location to explore from. (15 minutes average to the middle of Bathhouse Row.)
The little amenities were a nice touch. Providing the bath salts for the jet tub, chocolates on the bed the first evening, the scented candles for the bath (and the thoughtful idea of including a lighter to light them), and the daily mineral water in a decanter (from the local springs) all made it even more special and memorable. The brownies and cookies left out for guests in the main house was a nice touch as well.
The bed itself was comfortable, and the sheets were amazing. So much so that we bought a set from the owner!
We highly recommend this place if you are staying in Hot Springs, it's close to town, includes off-street parking for all rooms, and is a unique alternative to staying at a hotel...
Read moreMy stay at the Williams house was July 3rd through the 6th. Me and my husband traveled to Hot Springs to get Married on the 4th of July. We have been together 14 yrs,but never had a real wedding. We knew we wanted something very special. When we arrived it was very late at night and no one was awake. As we entered into our room I looked straight at my husband and said "I am going to be so happy getting ready here." The air in the room was not cold but it was so late I could not tell anyone. The next morning, I awoke to get ready for my wedding day. One of the ladies who ran the place knocked on my door. I opened my door and she let herself in. She immediately said it is so hot in here. She said she would fix it right away. I asked her if she could get me some wine or champagne and she said she would. The room never cooled down and I never got my champagne. She finally came when I was leaving and asjed if I still wanted the champs. I told her no i know had to leave. My make-up artist mentioned it again that the air never cooled. I thought well maybe it will cool when we return. When we returned home the room was even worse as if there was no air flow whatsoever. I called the owner and she told me to go turn the air on myself in the breakfast area. I went to turn down the air and nothing changed. My husband and I were up to 3 A.M because we were so hot. We had to remove all the covers from the bedding just to get any relief and sleep. The very next morning the owner knocked on my door and said why have you not left yet. I was astonished,I told her we did not sleep until 3 A.M because we had no air conditioning. She said well you need to be out so my maitenance can look at the air! I almost choked! But I held my composure and started to pack our belongings. As soon as we loaded the car I went and knocked on her door to speak with her. I told her, I was so upset the way she spoke to me. I explained to her me and my husband had waited 14 years for this special weekend and we have never been treated so poorly. All she could say was I am sorry and that's it. I was so upset because when my husband first proposed to me in Mexico our air conditioner in our hotel was out the whole time. It was like the bad memory all over again. The Owner also told my husband that she usually does not accommodate more than 2 guests in the inn. And that she saw we had more than two people and that she may have to charge a extra clean up fee! I was livid this was my beautiful wedding day and for her to even say this was insane! The Inn is beautiful but all the owner cares about is money and that's it! If this review keeps one person from visiting this Inn i will be one happy bride as she ruined my wedding stay that me and my husband...
Read moreDo you like history? Do you love art? Do you enjoy being comfortable, nay, pampered? Then you must stay at the Williams House Inn. My husband and I stayed for two nights for our honeymoon, and it was a dream! We were running late for our check-in time, so one of the owners, Joe, called me to set up after-hours check in. He also verified my dietary preference, told me what was for breakfast, and gave us dinner recommendations. That was before we even got there!
Upon arriving, we were immersed in the world inside the Williams House Inn. The house was in full Christmas mode, but even without decorations, its personality shone. There was something around every corner that made my maximalist heart happy. After we got settled in, I gave myself time to read the history of the house(highly recommended) so we could appreciate the hidden details, like that the sink in our bathroom is the oldest sink in the house, or that our bedroom was the original Lady of the House’s dressing room!
Now for the amenities- The bed and furnishings were so comfortable, and the linens and robes were so soft. The jetted tub is fabulous, and having it in the bedroom is a truly over the top indulgence. Our coffee was delivered early, and both breakfasts were delicious and unique. Joe salt cures his own salmon for bagels and lox, and it is perfect, plus, I’m still thinking about that tomato salad. Both nights we helped ourselves to the open tea and treats bar in the dining room and back hall. I’m also still thinking about the lemon pepper butter cookies.
We didn’t have a concrete plan for the day, so Joe made notes on a map with recommendations for us. It ended up being a perfect guide with something in all directions. We could easily swing by the house to drop off shopping if we needed to, so a very walkable and chill neighborhood.
Before we left, Joe gifted us with cuttings from a couple of potted plants that are now at our house. This gesture embodies the spirit at the Williams House Inn- true Southern hospitality, which is treating someone like family. I did not feel like a paying customer at the Inn, I felt like a guest visiting for the holidays. My husband and I thank the owners so much for sharing this gem of a house with us. Anyone can tell that they enjoy what they are doing and they will take great care of you, just as they care for the house...
