We did our due diligence by reading tons of reviews but, that was for naught. It started out nice enough, they were good enough to understand that we were 2 couples traveling together & needed a check-in at the same time. We kept them posted about our arrival time & as soon as we arrived I headed to check us in. I noticed the Ring doorbell, rang it, smiled & waved as I was there right at the time I said we would be. The man came to the door & basically asked me if I had an appointment... I told him that I did, my name, pointed out the time... & I thought, now he will greet me & welcome me in! I thought wrong!! He said "Are you A-L-O-N-E?" as he stood, with his whole body blocking the doorway, I said, "no, everyone else is in the parking lot..." he said "well, you're going to have to go get them... I need everyone..." and as I walked away he said in a louder tone "because I'm only going to do this once!" so, I go retrieve everyone, we all arrive back at the front door he's still standing in the door, no more welcoming... He looks at us & says "you can come in, you can come in, you can not & you can come in" as he looked to each of us, but he still didn't move... We all just stood there, not understanding what this was about... That's when I noticed my husband's best friend was wearing an LSU shirt, so I said "oh, what because of his shirt?" he said "because y'all beat us!" & then we all just continued to stand there, as our friend did a fake 'ha' under his breath so, that was weird... He finally stepped out of the doorway, asked us to step in & asked for each of our names as he shook our hands... It was truly one of the oddest encounters we have ever had. After checking in we were shown to our rooms & wow, was it HOT up there!! You'd think, knowing that guests were coming, & exactly what time we'd be arriving, they would have turned on the a/c's in the rooms but, no... And there is a lot going on it those rooms but, not a lot of room in the rooms!!
These rooms are perfect for a single person, not couples, but, maybe we had the smaller rooms in the place... We had the room with the footed tub & the shower, so, I can only speak for them. I'm attaching photos from the room with the footed tub, please enjoy those (I think the shower liner is shabby chic, w/ a touch of mildew)!
My husband got the man all flustered because he asked what we needed to do IF we needed extra towels... I thought his head was going to explode, he kept repeating 'this is not a hotel, I don't have 10 extra towels!' My husband had not seen that there were extra towels in the room, had not heard him make mention of it, pointing to them outside of the bathroom, while my husband was still in the bathroom... And, w/the ones in the bathroom we were set, this man just totally overreacted to the question. And for someone who (obviously) doesn't like to repeat himself, he didn't mind wasting time repeating things that we didn't need to know.
I read a review where someone complained about how dark it was on the hall, I would like to say they were wrong for that complaint. The hall is kept at a low light because there are little stained glass windows above each bedroom door, to have a hall light on at all times would be disturbing to everyone. If you have a cell ph, you have a flashlight, don't know how to use it? Get a pen light to use to see the lock on the door when you come in at night. Our room had more than enough natural light in THE morning (see pic). This place has a nice garden on the back, porch on the front, our room had a small balcony w/ a decent view, which was nice but, it would have been nicer if every part of this property (outside), had not smelled like cat pee! We only saw 1 cat, in the parking lot the day we arrived... The cat might have left but that smell, it sure didn't!
I don't have the time or space here to go into the rules of this place, I just recommend that you call beforehand & get a FULL understanding of what they expect from YOU! The breakfast is just ok, if you can actually make it to breakfast! (&...
Read moreI honestly cannot review the condition of our room or our scheduled 2 night stay. We never even made it that far. The area was extremely run down and sketch. We overshot the Inn by two houses initially and parked at a similar home. Immediately an elderly man walked across and down the street to tell us we could not park there and it was only for residents. We were sweet and apologetic towards him and assured him we would move as soon as the owners checked us in and gave us instructions. He continued to tell us to move or he would call police. Really hateful demeanor. We soon figured out we were at the wrong house, got into our vehicle and as we were literally about to pull into the street an elderly lady jogged over and motioned us to roll down our window. Thinking she might be there to offer advice, we did and she immediately started in on us about not parking there. As we were driving away!? It was like an episode of “ here comes Karen”! We parked two houses down at the Inn and the two elderly people that berated us just glared at us from across the street. By this time we didn’t feel safe at all and worried our vehicle would be vandalized overnight. So we spoke with the owner who was present to check us in. In no way do we blame them for the rudeness of their neighbors. However, when we tried to advise him of how the neighbors were treating their patrons we were cut off, told those people have lived there a long time and were “protective “ of the neighborhood. The owners cut to the chase and said if we didn’t want to stay there it didn’t make a difference, we would be charged 100%, this was their business and we could leave. Which of course we did. I don’t begrudge them their fees but there was zero care or concern for what had just happened to us. This was a truly...
