If you read my review about the Gold Tooth Tony's Heights location, you found a pretty glowing one. This one, not so much. So the first and foremost thing to know about the Gold Tooth Tony's Montrose location is that it's inside of Rudyard's. And there is NO way of knowing that from the exterior. I myself only found out from Yelp reviews. So, that actually plays into the most important aspect of this review. See, when it's a standalone restaurant, you have employees that represent that company and (ideally) deliver excellent customer service. Here, it's different. You order from the bartenders, who obviously work for the bar and not Gold Tooth Tony's directly. I went on Halloween afternoon right after work so it's not like the place was packed. And I only went here instead of the Heights since it was so much closer. I stood at the bar for literally 5 minutes as a bartender did...well something...at the register before telling me the lady next to her would help me. And that took another few minutes. So I had already spent nearly 10 minutes here without any help and it didn't seem like they would care if I left or not (I almost did). My order was taken by the 2nd bartender who was at least a little nicer (and acknowledged my existence unlike the first one!) I ordered a Detroit Style pizza, a 12" Houston style, and a Caesar Salad. At no point was I asked if it was for there or to-go, but one would assume a guy wouldn't sit there and eat all that food there by himself...unless I just look THAT depressed or like I hate myself that much?? So the first bartender (the one who had originally ignored me) brought out the salad to the table where I waited and I had to tell her that it was a to-go order. She seemed upset, even though, like I said, NO ONE had asked me beforehand. And she was not even a little upset, she was glaring like I had just shot her dog and walked over its cadaver Allen-Iverson-over-Ty-Lue style. But I digress. In total, I waited about 35 minutes for the order, which I actually think is about right for 2 pizzas without calling ahead. I was glad to get my food as it was not a remotely cordial atmosphere. But for me, that's a big bummer part of it. You look forward to getting pizza for a night in with some fun horror movies (especially on Halloween!) and it shouldn't be started out with unfriendly, unwelcoming service. The good news? The pizza was great. The one I got was the Detroit Hunger Force and it was absolutely fantastic. My girlfriend had done a build-your-own with ricotta, sausage, onions, and bacon. Even the Caesar was spectacular. So, yes, the food (which is the most important thing) is just as great as it is at the Heights location. But the service leaves A LOT to be desired and that is also a significant part of the overall dining experience. Yes, I get that a bar makes money from the alcohol sales, but I'm sure lots of other people are like me who are just there for the food and want to be valued as customers equally (especially when dropping over $60 for a meal, 3 items, at that). I probably wouldn't go back here and hope this helps other potential customers to level set on expectations when it comes to the service, which falls flat.

Disappointed with Last Night’s Order I’ve ordered the square pizza from Gold Tooth Tony’s several times and, for the most part, it’s been great. There was only one occasion in the past where the pizza was just okay—but nothing too bad to complain about. Last night, however, was a completely different story. I ordered two squares via DoorDash and even customized my order with added options. The receipt I received was accurate, but what showed up at my door was far from what I ordered. Instead of the square pizzas I was expecting, I got two mini circular pies—something I never ordered. The pizzas were dry, lacked sauce, and had terrible chicken that tasted awful. It was nothing like the quality I’ve come to expect. It honestly felt like whoever worked last night didn’t care at all about the food they were sending out. Gold Tooth Tony’s, you’re better than this. Stick to what you’re good at (the square pizzas) and seriously consider addressing quality control in your kitchen. Last night’s experience was disgusting and not worth the money.

Gold Tooth Tony's: A Detroit-Style Dream! ★★★★★ Gold Tooth Tony's is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is fantastic, creating a perfect ambiance for enjoying delicious food with friends. Our server was attentive and friendly, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. But let's talk about the food! We started with the curly fries, which were crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the garlic knots, a cheesy, garlicky delight. For the main event, we couldn't resist trying both the vegetable and meatball pizzas. Wow! The Detroit-style crust is simply amazing – crispy edges and a chewy, airy center. The toppings on both pizzas were fresh and flavorful. If you're a pizza lover, Gold Tooth Tony's is a must-try! Detroit-style pizza has officially won us over. #GoldToothTonys #DetroitPizza #HoustonFoodie #PizzaLover #AmazingFood #GreatService
