3/12/24.
Rude. Unwelcoming. Walked in and they literally didn't even acknowledge me. They ignored me and kept serving other people. They weren't even busy. No menu no water nothing. Then another couple came in and they greeted them. I was so mad I left.
2/1/23 UPDATE: Decided to come back and give it another try. Went with the house special fried rice like everyone recommended and it was sooo delicious. the previous servers i mentioned below were let go which is a hugh relief! the petite mom-like lady who took cared of us was so sweet and friendly!! their spicy sauce is so bomb with the fried rice! I had to ask for refill many many times!
My dining experience here was questionable. The thing is I was kinda expecting more as if I am correct this restaurant has been around for a while. I've heard people talk about this place here and there so I gave it a try however I don't think I will go back.
There were two people working on a Friday noon. They both seemed like they were new to this industry and one of them being my server, it was a chaos. While he was friendly, I had to ask for utensils in a restaurant and even when the food came out... It was odd how he went back and forth when I was in the middle of talking to request something. I felt rushed lowkey. I didn't know this restaurant was a quick casual eat and leave kinda place. Maybe it is because the seats were flat without cushions. anyways i still took my time to eat because I don't like eating fast.
I ordered wonton soup, dan dan noodles, and mapo tofu. they give you this cream cheese thingy which was pretty good I ended up ordering 3. Anyways back to the wonton soup which was okay, I didn't like the pork wonton, too dry. Next the dan dan noodles were rly dry too. This was my first time trying dan dan noodles so I didn't know what to expect but I don't get why people like this plate. Mapo tofu was good. There was a hiccup where I specifically asked for no peppercorn and they gave me a plate with it - however they ended up remaking it for me which I enjoyed it very much.
Overall the food was eh so I don't know if I want to come back. They def need some work on customer service. The parking is a bit limited but you can always street park. The bathroom is ok,...
Read more5/5: Cheese Wontons (includes some crab) -- crispy, perfectly cooked, totally delicious ans everything you'd hope for.
5/5: Spicy Chicken Cubes -- scrumptious and tasty. Unlike places like Wanna Bao, your mouth won't be completely numb when you eat this dish (they use much fewer numbing spices) so this might be spicier than you're used to with this dish. Wonderful nevertheless.
5/5: Mapo Tofu -- definitely one of the better Mapo Tofus out there. If you like this kind of thing, then you should try it here. I'm personally not a huge fan of the mushy texture but I liked the flavor.
5/5: Teas -- friends got the green tea and the jasmine tea. Loved them. They came out in very fancy containers. Probably 16oz worth of tea, poured into tiny 3-4oz glasses so it could easily be split.
3/5: Kung Pao Chicken -- kind of lacking flavor aside from being spicy, but maybe I'm a pansy and just can't taste anything beyond the heat... then again, my friend also didn't like it. Neither one of us wanted to finish it.
5/5: Service -- staff was super nice. They gave us complimentary wontons during the soft open. When the server thought I ordered Kung Pao Chicken instead of the Spicy Chicken Cubes, they came back later with the order I had actually wanted even though I insisted that it was okay. I really appreciate that because I wasn't enjoying the Kung Pao Chicken and I would hate to be one of those people that creates a fuss. Cubes.
I wish the tables were wider. It was precarious and challenging to fit 4 peoples' dishes and sharing dishes and those gigantic tea things.
I look forward to coming back and ordering the cheese wontons and crispy...
