We were there on Friday December 2 2016 with a party of 16 people and at first everything was ok until the bill came out it was about 325 dollars Which it was ok we the tip was about 50 dollars which it was ok the picture the your seeing in the post is our group of people that we all use to come here after our meetings but this is the until we had a waiter that no only he was very rude but we find out that he was also over tipping him self in this is how he was doing it we pay the big bill out 325 dollar he tip him self 50 dollars no problem but some people left after we pay the bill and about 9 people stay and about 7 people consume about 8 round of shot and beer and on each round he brought individual bill and each time he was also tipping him self 20 dollars so that mean that in less of one hour he tip him self $160 dollars just by bringing us eight round of alcohol plus the $50 dollars that he already tip him self so that mean that in less of 2 hour this waiter tip him self $ 210 dollar and when we asking why he was tipping him self every time he was bringing us alcohol and he tried to explain and them he call me a drunk when and that he need to talk to someone that it wasn't drinking and it was me and I told him that he was wrong that he could not tip him self every time that he was bringing something that we ask and we brought to the manager attention and the manager told the waiter that he was wrong by doing that but The manager also didn't resolve our problem with her authority she is lacking of that of training and control of the problem that it was happening I this means the staffs has more authority than the manager so my recommendation to all of you out there come to eat at this place you need to watch your bill because this place is not the right trying to take your money straight from your pocket and you don't...

I am very unhappy with the customer service of this establishment. First off I didn't receive a receipt for my order nor the change from paying with the attendant that handed off orders. When I arrived home my order was all a la carte tacos with no rice or beans for either order which was $20 for 5 tacos. I called the restaurant and spoke to the same attendant that assisted me to see if I paid for rice and beans. To no surprise, at all, he didn't know if they offered tacos with rice or beans so I asked to speak to his manager. The manager informed me all tacos are priced separately aside from lunch in which they offer a combo for $7.00 a plate and at dinner, the same order is $16.00 this is a horrible menu option. I continued to ask her about the menu in which she rushed me off the phone claimed she was busy and continued to call me mommy which is very unprofessional. As a manager or worker, I don't care how busy you are you are never rude to customers. This is horrible customer service and the food was not worth $20. Do yourself a favor and get your food from Fajita Petes a better restaurant overall. They offer better prices, better quality food, and overall better customer service. This La Tapatia will never get an order from...

A Houston Gem for Authentic Mexican Cuisine I've been a loyal patron of La Tapatia Mexican Restaurant on Richmond and Chimney Rock for as long as I can remember. In a city where authentic Mexican restaurants can be hard to come by, this spot stands out as a place that consistently gets it right.

The staff has been a constant throughout the years—friendly, welcoming, and always delivering great service. They've given the restaurant a few facelifts over time to keep it updated, but the charm and warmth remain the same. With a bar, a patio, and plenty of parking, it's an easy and convenient spot to visit.

Their menu is packed with delicious options, but my personal favorites are the mole enchiladas and their tortilla soup, which is especially comforting during Houston's cooler months. Whether you're looking for a nostalgic bite or a spot to enjoy with family and friends, La Tapatia never disappoints.

This restaurant has anchored the corner shopping center for years, and it’s clear why—it’s a true neighborhood staple and one of my absolute favorites. Highly recommend stopping by for a taste of authentic Mexican...

If you’re craving authentic Mexican flavors, La Tapatia is the spot! The margaritas are strong, refreshing, and absolutely delicious 🍹🔥—definitely a highlight of the visit. I usually go for the beef and chicken fajitas, and they never disappoint. The meat is tender, well-seasoned, and served sizzling hot—perfect for wrapping in warm tortillas 🌯🥩🍗. The chips and salsa are a great starter—crispy, fresh, and the salsa has just the right kick 🌶️👌. On top of the great food, the customer service is excellent—friendly, attentive, and fast. Overall, a fantastic dining experience at La Tapatia. I’d give it a solid 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and will definitely be coming back! 🎉

5 stars from the bottom of my heart to this old-school place.. Still as cozy as it used to be back in the 90s when I was in college.. I'm just so attached to this place. Due to their fair prices back in the days, I & many other students like me considered this place as 2nd. home🏡 They used to have a couple of locations, and now they have grown to a big chain of authentic & home-style Mexican restaurant.. It is hard to transform your small family owned restaurant to a franchise business without losing the authenticity & originality of the cuisine, yet these guys have pulled it off with precision. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Their street tacos have to be the worst tacos I’ve had. No seasoning and they were drenched in onion and cilantro as to add somewhat of a flavor since the meat definitely didn’t. They also didn’t even come with salsa or any kind of hot sauce. The fajita plater was the same. Little to no flavor. Refried beans seemed to be from a can or something and just didn’t taste right. The shredded cheese was burned onto the plate. Which means they just threw the plate in the microwave to warm up the whole plate. We didn’t finish our food, paid and left. Would not recommend.
